Welcome

Greetings!

We are bracing for a busy fall based upon how many folks have been tackling their finances this summer.

Typically, folks are focused on having fun during the summer but this year we seem to be hearing from more people who are ready to make sure their future is greater than their past. Maybe they are sending off a child to college or a big birthday is right around the corner, whatever the catalyst, folks seem to be ready to make change happen. Kudos to them! And we are here, ready to help.

On a recent summer evening we had the pleasure of sailing Plymouth Bay right by the Mayflower during sunset. Embrace these last weeks of summer and create your own memories.

Cheers,

From Bill's corner...

A lot to be said for 'old school' investing

During a recent client meeting, I proposed a conservative investment strategy of dividend-paying, big blue-chip company stocks coupled with dividend reinvestment technique. The portfolio would contain household names like Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola, IBM, Johnson and Johnson, McDonalds, Proctor & Gamble; companies that are prodigiously profitable, pay dividends and regularly increase their dividends. We'd set up the portfolio so that the dividends paid would be directly reinvested back into each respective stock. After explaining the virtues of this type of strategy, the client replied, "That's the advice my Grandma gave me. We're going Old School."

Build a financial plan for special-needs child

When Brian and Jessie Waldron's son was diagnosed with Down syndrome minutes after birth, "financial planning was the last thing on our minds," says Mr. Waldron.
