Sound, visionary stewardship
Welcome Greetings! Bill and I just did something we do for our clients--we planned our future! We attended a conference in Santa Fe, NM with 40+ entrepreneurial couples from across North America. For two days we thought big thoughts, shared our dreams and then mapped out our next 10 years. All this to ensure we have the best 10 years of our lives. It was a very special time and a great chance for the two of us to really focus on our own lives.
We both loved Santa Fe and New Mexico. The landscape was just so awesome. While visiting Bandelier National Monument we encountered this mother black bear with her two cubs--right along the trail! All visitors have been warned that they have been spotted close to the ranger station and to be aware. Even though they are quite comfortable around humans they are still wild animals. It was a thrill to be so close! This photo was actually taken by someone we met on the trail as we all approached the bears. Turns out her grandparents live three doors down from us here in Duxbury! She and her family live in Taos and were on their first ever trip to Bandelier! Now, that's a small world! Cheers, p.s. Last week, I entered my first Standard Flower Show! It was a little scary and exciting at the same time. I had very little idea about what I was doing but had made up my mind to "just do it"! My design earned an honorable mention and more importantly my confidence level increased immensely. Thanks for all the encouragement! |

From Bill's corner...

This past weekend, while most of you were enjoying the typically activities of spring, I was shivering away in an air-conditioned conference room in Orlando Florida with the nation's most exclusive group of financial advisors - Ed Slott's Elite IRA Advisor Group™. Some of you may have seen the nationally aired and #1 Public Television Fundraising Special "Stay Rich Forever & Ever with Ed Slott". While his consumer info is top notch, the training given to advisors is exceptional. The Wall Street Journal has referred to Ed Slott as "The Best" source for IRA advice. I'm excited to be working with his organization, and offering this depth and knowledge as a resource to our clients. I am convinced that the new tax law (The Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010) has created the biggest window of opportunity to protect your wealth from future taxes that we'll ever experience. We have less than 2 years before this opportunity expires. Act now! Contact us if we can assist you.

Divorce and Taxes: five things you need to know
The Great Recession turned out to be quite good at keeping troubled unions together. Divorce rates fell every year in America during the economic downturn. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which tracks marriage statistics, there were 63,550 fewer.
Numbers aren't out for 2010, but divorce lawyers and marriage counselors say 2010 was likely the first year since the financial crisis that more couples called it quits than in the year before. And that won't only make things more difficult at holiday times. April 15 (or April 18 this year, because of an extension) can be complicated for the recently divorced as well.
