Sound, visionary stewardship
Welcome Greetings! Welcome spring! I just love watching all the new growth popping up through the dirt. It inspires me to think about all the possibilities each day holds for us. In May, I've committed to doing my first "standard flower show". I'm still new to the world of the garden clubs but a good friend asked me to participate. The show is scheduled for May 14 at a set of historic schoolhouses in our town. My chosen category is "Synergistic Design" and incorporating this "Historic National Treasure and its Assemblage Over Time". So, if any of you know anything about "standard flower shows", please feel free to share your knowledge, insight and expertise. I need it! Oh, and by the way...Constant Contact has recognized our firm for it's high standards of marketing and ongoing audience communication. Cheers, |

From Bill's corner...
One of my favorite writers of all times is Napoleon Hill. In addition to Think and Grow Rich, he wrote many motivational books. He was the Tony Robbins of his day and quite possibly the motivational champion of all times. One of his greatest gems, is a book called, The Laws of Success: The Master Wealth-Builder's Complete Original Lesson Plan for Achieving Your Dreams. It was written in 1928, and his personalized stories and allegorical concepts still hit home today. I've read this book many times, and always take in a new curio of wisdom. Hill hung out with the titans of industry, Henry Ford, Edison, Rockefeller, Wrigley and many more. He studied their leadership styles and habits. Hill concluded the most important habit these geniuses possessed was the habit of saving money. The Laws of Success was written in 1928, and the excesses and the frivolous spending of roaring 20s were no different from today. However, every one of the aforementioned titans knew the importance of savings. To them, savings was not a sacrifice, but a strategic decision. So many great quotes jump out of the pages of this book: - "Debt is a merciless master, a fatal enemy of the savings habit."
- "The greatest thing in life is freedom, and there can be no freedom without a reasonable degree of financial independence."
Add a copy of The Laws of Success to your library. You will not be disappointed. I'll leave you with one final piece of Napoleon Hill's sage wisdom: "a person on a Ford income has no business purchasing a Studebaker car".

MA updated homestead law
The Massachusetts legislation, signed into law, an updated homestead law on March 14. It clarifies ambiguities in a law first enacted in 1851. The statute, amended a number of times in ensuing years, provided $500,000 in protection from creditors - but only for homeowners who file a so-called homestead declaration with a county registry of deeds, a process that can cost between $35 and $100. Under the new law, homeowners do not have to make such a filing unless they hold more than $125,000 in equity in their homes. They can still get $500,000 in protection if they file a homestead declaration. Make sure you've filed yours!
