Sound, visionary stewardship
Welcome Greetings! No shadow. Spring is near! Punxsutawney Phil has called it. But, I admit it, I love the beauty this winter has brought. Snow blankets the world in a white peace. It slows us down. It gives us "permission" to enjoy the present, at least for a day. I even cherish the day when I spent five quiet hours disconnected from the world due to a power outage. As much as I'm looking forward to the arrival of spring, one more snow day wouldn't be such a bad thing, in my opinion. What do you think? Cheers, |
From Bill's Corner...
The new year started on a mixed note as January saw low single-digit gains across domestic large-cap and mid-cap stocks, and slightly negative returns for small-cap stocks. Looking abroad, large-cap international stocks were up 1% in January, while emerging-markets stocks dropped nearly 3% as concerns about unrest in the Middle East and high inflation in some emerging-market countries spooked investors.
Turning to fixed-income, high-quality, intermediate-term bonds were flat through January, while the muni bond market dipped 0.4% on fears of muni defaults. Developed-market foreign bonds were also flat for the month, while emerging-markets bonds lost 1.6%.
The third year of every presidency tends to be their best year as they position for reelection. Therefore, we expect 2011 to be a good year.

Why you shouldn't buy an iPhone -- yet
Verizon subscribers have been a stalwart bunch. While AT&T customers flaunted their iPhones the last 3.5 years, Verizon subscribers countered with claims of network clarity and Droid superiority.
