The DWTX Choral Festival will be held at St. David's, San Antonio, on October 13, beginning at 9:00 am and the public is invited to attend.  Choral Evensong will begin at 4:00 pm. On Friday and Saturday, October 5 and 6, St. Francis Episcopal Church in Houston presents Richard Foster, founder of Renovare, as the featured speaker at this year's Spiritual Quest: "The Grand Invitation: Walking with God Day by Day." Spiritual Quest is an annual event which coincides with the feast of St. Francis. The event seeks to inspire and teach how to practice a more Christ-centered life in concrete and structured ways. Spiritual Quest will be held on Friday from 6:30 to 9:00 pm and on Saturday from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. Sunday, October 7, St. Paul's, San Antonio, will offer a Solemn Evensong on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, at 4:00 pm. Tuesday, October 9, at 6:30 pm, the Church of Reconciliation, San Antonio, will host a dinner and discussion with Christophe Mbonyingabo, director of CARSA, a non-profit ministry that promotes reconciliation in Rwanda between the victims and perpetrators of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide.  CARSA also does reconciliation work in the strife-torn Congo.  You can learn more about Christophe's work at CARSA at www.carsa.org. The Church of the Good Shepherd, Corpus Christi, will host the Texas Regional Carillon Gathering for a carillon recital on Friday, October 19, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm, and Saturday, October 20, from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Bring a picnic basket and sit out on the lawn overlooking the bay and enjoy an evening recital performed by regional carilloneurs on the 48 bell Memorial Carillon. There is no cost, just bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy a beautiful October evening listening to the bells on the bluff.

 

Sunday, October 21, the Chapel Boychoir of San Antonio and the Chancel Choir of Christ Church, San Antonio, will present a choral vesper service at 3:00 pm at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Church, 111 Barilla Place in San Antonio.  There is no admission fee for the event; contact Mary Ann Winden for information at 210-334-9607 or 210-542-1968. 

 

Saturday, November 10, Michael Battle will speak at the Whitley Theological Center at Oblate School of Theology, in San Antonio, from 9:00 am to noon.  His topic will be Compassion in the Christian Tradition.  Cost for the lecture, which is part of the Portraits of World Mysticism series that Oblate is sponsoring, is $40.  For more information visit the Oblate website.
