Business After Hours: New at your Library
"Know what's happening at the Library?" If you answer yes, but the last time you actually set foot in the library was years ago, you are in for a surprise. Alleghany Library is not just a place to peruse magazines and check out books. It's a computer center: With 14 public terminals -- for surfing the Web, checking email, searching the library catelog, to name a few -- there's hardly a day when more than one or two are free. You can check out DVD movies and audio books. Taking a long trip? Grab a audio novel to fill the time. It's a culture center. With one or more programs on local culture and our community, you might hear Jack tales one night, listen to a Celtic band or watch a play. It's a child education center in the summer with reading programs that really grab youngsters' attention. And it is loaning e-books for you Kindle, Nook, Ipad or smart phone. This newest service is the focus of Thursday's Business After Hours at the Libary, 5-7p. You will be walked through the steps of borrowing an e-book. Learn how and you can read borrow these books from your home or office. Refreshments will be served. 336-372-5573 By the way, think your place is haunted. Then you'll want to be at the Library tonight at 7p for a program by ghost hunter Tally Johnson. Like almost all library programs, it is free.
