Takoma Park Mayor Proclaims VegWeek & Takes Veg Pledge!

Mayor Bruce Williams in Takoma Park, Md. signed a Proclamation officially dedicating April 23-29 as VegWeek 2012, and to further show the city's support for this effort, he along with four other councilmembers are taking COK's 7-Day Veg Pledge.

EU's Hen Welfare Laws Prompt Retailers to Scramble for Egg Alternatives

In January 2012, the European Union's ban on the use of barren wire battery cages for egg-laying hens took effect - and some egg producers got out of the business altogether. Fewer hens means fewer eggs, and as the cost of eggs has quadrupled, prompting many retailers to look for egg-free alternatives.
