Recap of Light Fair 2012 Las Vegas, NV
Thank you to all who attended our Hospitality Suite event at Light Fair this May. Over the two evenings, we had an incredible 150 agents and guests join us at the Bellagio for drinks, hors d'oeuvres and conversation. It was a great opportunity to communicate with agents and specifiers across the country and listen to your feedback. Likewise, we had an opportunity to share information regarding the transforming innovations taking place at our factory and the new 2012 products in the planning and development pipeline.
I appreciate the agent support for this event and the ongoing support for PMC Lighting in your daily business.
Kindest Regards,
Larry Crystal

New Factory Initiative: Packaging Redesign
As part of a new factory initiative, PMC Lighting is in the process of evaluating and upgrading our entire fixture packaging system. In an effort to reduce packaging bulk and to improve shipment durability, EPS (Expanded Poly-Styrene) fixture supports are being phased in across the entire product line. The use of the newly designed packaging components reduces the amount of bubble wrap used in shipments effectively to zero, while at the same time decreasing shipping damage. Every fixture is protected by a poly-film wrap, packaged with these newly designed EPS components and then palletized for shipment to the job site. Palletized fixtures now transfer the weight of the entire stack of fixtures thru the EPS end blocks and center supports to the pallet, effectively removing the load weight from the fixture and reducing the risk of shipping damage.
Starting with 3D CAD models of each fixture, the PMC Engineering team have designed load supporting light weight EPS components for each fixture, standardized components for models where it made sense, then tailored outside dimensions for these packing elements to accommodate a standardized series of corrugated shipping cartons."The intent of this new packaging direction is to standardize packaging for PMC while at the same time benefiting the customer by reducing the bulk of bubble wrap that needs to be disposed of and reducing the occurrence of shipping related damage that delays projects," said Hal Maturi, PMC Lighting's Chief Operating Officer.Watch for these improvements to arrive on your jobsites in the near future as these changes are phased in over the months ahead.
