Featured Project
Northeast Georgia Hospital Infant Nursery Specifier: HPD Engineers, LLC Atlanta, GA Agent: SESCO Lighting PMC Lighting's Sorea Series was utilized as the primary ambient lighting source throughout the Infant Nursery at the Northeast Georgia Hospital. While offering a consistent look throughout the space, both the side enclosure and center basket options were provided as dictated by the function in the space.
In the clerical reception areas shown above, the Sorea side enclosure series provided the exclusive light source offering excellent uniformity and maintained footcandles for paper based tasks, charts and computer usage. In the open areas with crib stations, the Sorea four-sided enclosure was used offering non-directional even general illumination. When desirable, recessed compact fluorescent down lights provided another layer of illumination while keeping a consistent color rendering between the two lighting sources.
In the smaller examination rooms shown to the right, the center enclosure version of the Sorea series was specified providing more direct illumination over the exam areas. These areas also offered supplemental examination lighting fixtures to provide additional directional illumination when required.
Overall, the selection of the Sorea series provided excellent quality illumination while supporting a soft calming visual effect for the nursery application. To learn more, see the full Sorea series specification data here.

Engineering News from Craig Nevers
We encounter frequent requests for clarification regarding the labeling for exterior lighting fixtures. Some specifiers presume that all exterior fixtures are rated for wet location. This is not true. There are three distinct classifications for exterior fixtures - dry location, damp location and wet location listings. Every PMC Lighting fixture carries a label indicating the specific rating. Please contact our engineering department for assistance in pairing a fixture to the appropriate application. The National Electric Code defines these three ratings as follows:
- Dry Locations
A location not normally subject to dampness or wetness. A location classified as dry may be temporarily subject to dampness or wetness, as in the case of a building under construction. - Damp Locations
Locations protected from weather and not subject to saturation with water or other liquids but subject to moderate degrees of moisture. Examples of such locations include partially protected locations under canopies, marquees, roofed pen porches, and like locations, and interior locations subject to moderated degrees of moisture, such as basements, some barns, and some cold storage buildings.
- Wet Locations
Installations underground or in concrete slabs or masonry in direct contact with the earth; in locations subject to saturation with water or other liquids, such as vehicle washing areas; and in unprotected locations exposed to weather.

Please Send Us Your Photographs!
With the introduction of our new catalog, we offered many new photographs of our products; however, our product line continues to grow and change and so does the need for new photographs. Having new product application photographs is very important for our selling effort, but it also increases your exposure as a leading agent in your marketplace. Please take a digital shot of any new application in your territory and send it to Craig Nevers. Please provide as much information as possible including fixture model, job name, original PO, specifying firm, etc. We can use these photographs to answer requests to view product installations. In addition, we may select the application to be professionally photographed, allowing us to use the photographs for upcoming brochures and other marketing materials. Publishing application photos provides valuable exposure for your specifier, your business and PMC Lighting.
