Delightful Neck Warmer

Let's just admit it.  It really does get cold in Florida!  I mean, when the thermometer plunges below 70 degrees, it's time to break out the arctic gear for us!

What could be better for these frigid temperatures than a fashionable neck warmer?

Skill: You know how to Cast On, Bind Off, Knit & Purl.  You will be learning to increase and decrease stitches, or if you already know the stitches, just have fun with the group!

Cost: $25  includes the pattern & yarn kit

Greetings!

Happy Holidays!

I am so happy to welcome you to the inaugural  issue of the Raging Wool Newsletter!

The purpose of the Raging Wool newsletter is to:
  • Keep you informed about Raging Wool Shop activities
  • Provide resources to help you grow your skills and joy of yarns
  • Share tips and stories from other Raging Wool Shop customers
The difference between a good newsletter and a great one, is by how much you look forward to actually reading it and passing it on to others to enjoy!   To that end, I look forward to listening to your ideas and feedback!

I am very passionate about making the Raging Wool Yarn Shop a truly fun and welcoming environment for yarn enthusiasts of all levels. I am grateful to have great friends and customers like you that help me fulfill that promise.

I trust that the spirit of the holidays will follow us throughout the year and that each of us has the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.

Sincerely,

Fun Classes at Raging Wool
New Classes begin in January

Raging Wool Mascots
Fun at Raging Wool
I am a yarn junkie.  You can see that look on me.  I talk about yarns, I play with yarns, I love to feel, look. talk, knit and crochet yarns. I love to make anything made of yarn.

I am also compelled to teach others to enjoy yarn too!  Many of you know that I love to teach and, more importantly (to the student), I have empathy and patience for those who are just beginning a new skill level.

In January, our experienced knitters might enjoy a class on how to make a Cat Bordhi "Lacy Moebius Cowl".

I also will be teaching 'how to fix common mistakes' classes, such as the "Little Boo-Boo's" and "Big Boo-Boo's" classes. Both of these classes help you recover from mistakes without wasting precious time (or scaring the neighbors with howling shrieks of angst)!

I also like to teach other fun classes, and the schedule now includes these new classes:
  • Ruca Brioche Scarves
  • Delightful Neck Warmers
  • How to knit socks (beginner)
  • How to knit two socks at a time (advanced class)
  • Finishing Class

For enthusiasts new to knitting and crochet, I will continue to be offering weekly 'Learn to Knit", "Learn to Crochet" classes and the free "Learn the Knit Stitch" coaching session.  The "Learn To..." classes, take 2 hours per day, for 3 days, over 3 weeks, so, our first time students really get their money's worth, and, more importantly, effectively learn the fundamentals to make their first project fun, productive and enjoyable.

Class schedules are posted on the "Classes and Events" page on the Raging Wool Yarn Shop Website and I also keep a printed sign-up sheet in the store.

Finally, class ideas come from the knitting community, based on your needs, so, please let me know what you would like to learn next and I'll do my best to bring a class to the shop for you!

January Contest Seeks Mascot Name

Raging Wool Alpaca
Name This Alpaca
I love Alpaca yarn, so, it was 'natural' for me to get one for the store.  Unfortunately,  I really wanted a live Alpaca, but my Home Owners Association (HOA) frowns upon this sort of thing.  So, instead, I got a life sized mascot for the store.

Many of the Raging Wool customers have called the Alpaca a "she".  Other's say its a "he", while most of the other customers question the sanity of giving inanimate objects a name to begin with.

Regardless of your relative hold of sanity, I'd still like a good name for our store mascot.  If you have a suggestion, let me know!  I'll put a little survey on the website to let our customers cast a vote and the winner will get a sample of fingering yarn from the Alpaca Yarn Company!

See You Soon!

Feel free to call us at the shop or follow us online via Facebook & Twitter for Raging Wool news and information. If there a story or tip you would like to share for the next newsletter, drop in or send me a note!

Thank you for your support and I wish you and your family all the joys of the holidays!
