It takes some time to get to know the buildings on campus, so don't beat yourself up if you get lost at first. You've likely found Tressider, Memorial Church and Hoover Tower, but check these out as well:
Munger Graduate Residences: Here you'll find Paul Brest Hall, the location of many conferences and events, as well as Russo Cafe and The Market at Munger.
"The Trees": This nickname was given to the Birch, Oak, Poplar, Laurel, Oak, Juniper, and Acacia modulars located just on Panama Drive. Right across the way, you'll also find Pine, Redwood, Cedar and Spruce Halls. Confused? Use the searchable map to get around!

- The original Stanford University campus was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed Central Park and Prospect Park in New York City.
- Upon opening, a New York newspaper predicted that the 15 original faculty would "lecture in marble halls to empty benches." Not quite!
- The first student body (Class of 1895) consisted of 555 men and women, including Herbert Hoover.
