What a Party! Baby's Space Raises Scholarship Funds

A Newsletter from Baby's Space March, 2012 Volume 3, Issue 3

Baby's Space is a holistic, research-based approach to infant through 3rd grade education, adolescent mental health services and support for children and families residing in poverty and violence.

Dear Friends,

What a night! On Friday, March 2, nearly 300 guests joined together in the beautiful Walker Art Center to support Baby's Space at our annual FUNdraiser. We raised close to $100,000 for scholarships to help children attend Baby's Space.

And, what fun we had! Long-time supporters and new friends joined to hear local artist Alison Scott, browse the offerings of our art auction and see a first look at tote bags from Hidden Baby, a bag designer and manufacturer that sends proceeds from each bag sale to Baby's Space.

A highlight was sharing the stage with Daisy Green, a young mother whose two-year-old daughter is a student at Baby's Space. Daisy told the crowd about her experience and the benefits her daughter is receiving at Baby's Space.

"You're not alone now." A guest's comment to Daisy Green, a guest speaker and mother of a Baby's Space student, who told the audience that her own mother was killed when she was eight-months-old and she felt alone when faced with finding childcare so she could get a job.

Alison Scott Wows Party Guests

A highlight of the evening was a performance by Alison Scott , a Twin Cities vocalist well-known for her soulful voice. Guests also received a copy of Scott's current CD "hiding under the covers."

New Art Auction Raises Additional Scholarship Funds
