Certification Update

Message from BCCDA on Certification

February 28th, 2012 Grandfathering Period Deadline

February 28th is the final deadline for certification applications under the grandfathering option. This is a deadline for grandfathering only; all other certification categories are available on an ongoing basis beyond this date.

If you are planning to apply by the deadline please see the updated Application Checklist (attached as a PDF document) in order to streamline the processing of your application.

Deadline details:

-          To meet the deadline, applications must be postmarked by/on Feb 28th

-          Applications must be complete and include payment.

-          If you are waiting for education and/or required course transcripts, or you have already registered for upcoming Ethics and/or Theories courses, you can submit your completed application package (application form, references, other supporting documents) by the deadline, and let us know when to expect the transcripts or your course completion documents. Certification will only be issued once these are submitted. (note: application fee is non-refundable)

Recertification

Attention current CCDPs. We are pleased to announce that we are developing new recertification application forms, CEU requirement details, and CEU tracking forms, as our first CCDP recertification dates will occur in the coming year. We will make an announcement and post the forms to the BCCDA website within the next 2 months. In the meantime, simply keep a file and list of the training and professional development activities you are doing and they will be easily transferred onto the new forms in time for your recertification.

Recertification activities and CEU's should align with the wide range of competency categories within the Canadian Standards & Guidelines for Career Development Practitioners http://career-dev-guidelines.org/career_dev/ . Our new forms will provide clear guidelines on this and on CEU values for various types of training and activities.

Questions?

Please contact us through the CCDP Registrar email at registrar@bccda.org. As our staff is currently operating at full capacity with the upcoming CDC and grandfather deadline, please email your questions and we will reply as promptly as possible. Thank you!

More information

I am very excited to be presenting at the CDC Conference this year.  On Tuesday, March 6th at 3:30 - 4:30 pm I am presenting my session:

PresentingCreating Significance: Leading Teams in the new Employment Program

Implementation of the new employment program is changing the landscape of what career development services look like in each and every organization in BC. As Executive Directors, Program Managers and Team Leaders, you are responsible for leading the way, building engagement in your team throughout the process. That can be hard to do when you are being directed to follow very specific guidelines from the Ministry and when you know that to reach your revenue targets, you have to change the way you serve clients. This session is an opportunity to discuss how to create significance for your teams as they learn the new definitions of what service delivery is going to look like and as they grapple with the way they can interact with their clients.
