Rideout Hospital Grows with $225 Million Expansion
Medical Construction Continues for Fremont-Rideout Health Group
Construction that began in 2009 is back on track for needed infrastructure improvements and a significant expansion to Rideout Hospital, Fremont-Rideout Health Group (FRHG) CEO Terri Hamilton announced in June. The medical development project in Marysville will leverage local healthcare services and dramatically increase FRHG facilities for Yuba-Sutter businesses and residents.

A revised medical center plan that shows a new six-story medical tower with an air-ambulance helicopter landing pad, a newly expanded emergency room area, and a 100 percent increase in the size of the Fremont-Rideout Cancer Center, resumes construction in October 2011. The 215,000 square feet of new patient and medical office construction improvements are anticipated to be completed in 2014 with $225 million in hospital reserve funding and through issuing bonds.

Eubank Award Honors 9th Squadron
MC-12 Liberty Mission Arrives at Beale Air Force Base
The 9th Mission Support Group for Beale Air Force Base was pleasantly surprised to learn that it had received the prestigious Eubank Award in April , 2011 for "outstanding work in helping keep mission members men tally strong and focused on their duties." It is the first time the 450-member squadron has received the Eubank Award presented by the Order of Daedalion Foundation, an institution originally established in 1921 to honor World War I pilots.
The 9th Support Squadron assists Beale Air Force Base in day-to-day activities as well as logistical support in the placement of new missions, including the incoming MC-12 Liberty Spy Program. The squadron components include communications, engineering, contracting, logistics, and security forces.
Several of the twin-engine Beechcraft aircraft representing the new spy plane mission arrived on-base in June, 2011. Ultimately the MC-12 Program is anticipated to create up to 1,000 new Air Force and civilian jobs.

Popeye's Opens in Marysville
New Business Focus
On June 20, the newest restaurant to downtown Marysville opened at 619 10th Street. Franchise owner Harsh Ghai premiered Popeye's, a Louisiana style eatery with a menu that offers spicy chicken, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, fried shrimp, and seafood.

About 20 new full and part-time employees will benefit from the new business opening, and the Yuba-Sutter EDC played a key role in helping finance the restaurant's expansion to Marysville. The original restaurant was established in 1972 and is now in over 1,900 locations nationwide, and is also in 26 foreign countries.

CTU PreCast Installs Walls for Target
362,000 SF Woodland Warehouse Expansion
Yuba County-based CTU Precast was recently awarded a contract to expand a Target warehouse in Woodland. The local manufacturing firm is currently manufacturing the insulated precast and pre-stressed concrete wall panels, each weighing 24 tons and measuring 47 feet high. The company anticipates installing the concrete panels in mid-September, 2011.

CTU Precast has been at its new location at 1260 Furneaux Road in the Yuba County industrial park since March 2010 with a team of precast professionals combining more than 60 years of experience. CTU represents a full-service company that expertly provides all phases of development support from design, production, and transportation to final installation and inspection. The firm operates under PCI (Precast/Pre-Stressed Concrete Institute) certified guidelines and produces structural and architectural precast concrete for buildings, parking garages, short to mid-span bridges, precast and pre-stressed concrete road pavement, and other custom precast products.
As sub-contrator, CTU Precast is working to expand an existing 1.5 million square-foot Target warehouse an additional 362,099 square feet. CTU is manufacturing the wall panels while the site and foundation work is being completed to expedite the construction schedule, and the installation of nearly 300 concrete wall panels will take two weeks to complete this phase of the Target warehouse expansion.

Financial Assistance Offered
$300,000 in potential business loans becomes available over the next few months thanks to a successful Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applied for and received by the Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
If your business is located in unincorporated Yuba County, has good credit, sufficient collateral and will be creating jobs with the money you borrow, chances are the EDC Loan Program will be able to help finance your business activities. Eligible loan activities include building or land acquisition, working capital, wages, inventory, equipment, supplies, marketing or other ongoing business or start-up costs.

Summer Season of Recreation and Fun
County Features Music, National Forests, Lakes and Rivers
The Yuba County Sierra Mountain foothills showcase two national forests, Collins Lake, Bullard's Bar Reservoir, Lake Francis Resort, and numerous streams, rivers, tent, and recreational vehicle campgrounds, and numerous hunting, boating, and fishing destinations.
Yuba County's valley areas have already featured a number of exciting events this year including the AMGEN 2011 cycling tour that raced through Beale Air Force Base and Wheatland in its first stage in May, air shows, fly-ins and open houses held at Beale and the Yuba County Airport, and the start of the 2011 concert season at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre.
With Tim McGraw having performed in June, additional upcoming artists for 2011 include Kid Rock on July 26, Toby Keith on August 4, Vans Warped Tour on August 11, Lil' Wayne on September 3, Def Leppard and Heart on September 11, Rascal Flatts on September 15, and Journey, Foreigner, and Night Ranger are featured on October 14. Nearly 1.7 million concert-goers have have visited the Amphitheatre since its opening in 2000; it is consistently rated as the best outdoor concert venue in the Sacramento Region. The Yuba County Recreation Program offers fun and athletic classes throughout the year and Summer months.
