Dear Parents,

Thank you with your promptness in paying student elective fees.  As you know, some of the electives require a fee to cover materials and/or transportation costs.  These fees have been pushed out to the appropriate students through Infinite Campus and are accessed through the Ben Franklin Academy Web Store. Please login and pay these fees at your earliest convenience.

Outdoor Education: 6th Grade (Nov. 6-9)

The link to register and make payments for Outdoor Education (Nov. 6-9) is now live.  Through the Ben Franklin Academy Store Field Trips link, you will be able to download and/or eSign the necessary forms and waivers for your student(s). Chaperones may also register and pay using this portal.

W
e will be loading the buses and departing school as soon as car pool ends on Tuesday, Nov. 6.  Buses should be at school by 8:15 a.m.  We will depart Covenant Heights after lunch on Friday, Nov. 9, and arrive at school just before car pool begins.

If you have any questions or concerns about Outdoor Education, please feel free to email me.

Space Camp: 7th Grade (Jan. 27 - Feb. 1)

Students interested in attending Space Camp (Jan. 27 - Feb. 1, 2013) should complete the attached registration form and return it to me by Tuesday, Oct. 16 (the day before Fall Break). We still have a few open spots available for students who have not yet expressed interest in going.

The schedule for payments is as follows:

  • 90 days prior to arrival at Space Camp, 50 percent of the Space Camp fee along with the original $10 booking fee is due for our group ($310).
  • 60 days prior to arrival, the remaining $299 will be due. We also will be booking flights and arranging for transportation at this time.
  • 30 days before arrival, health forms must be completed and submitted online.

After I have our group of students registered, I will be in close contact to provide frequent communication about deadlines, lodging, health forms, etc.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to email or call.

Community Outreach Project

Ben Franklin Academy, the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) and Highlands Ranch Metro Districts (HRMD) have partnered together for community outreach, and we've been asked to demolish a pipe stove located within a dwelling at one of our parks.  Volunteers who would like to take part in this opportunity will use tools provided by HRMD to demolish and then stage the stove for pickup.  HRMD will speak to the volunteers prior to the event to assure their safety and also provide a bit of history about the project.  If you and your student are interested in volunteering for this opportunity, please let me know via email.

Sincerely,

Jason Cochrane
