Back-to-School Night
| |
We are excited to see all of our middle school parents tonight at Back-to-School Night. We will meet at 6 p.m. in the Middle School Commons Room where I will cover information about class trips, classroom procedures, scheduling, etc. This should last no longer than 30 minutes.
Afterward, each of our middle school teachers will cover information on curriculum, websites, resources they have available for your student to be successful and best practices for studying in their class. Once each teacher has had the opportunity to present, we will transition to an informal walk-through session where you will have the opportunity to visit each of your student's teachers in his/her classroom for additional questions you may have.

Painting and Drawing
|
If your student has had the opportunity to attend Painting and Drawing for the "A" day elective, you may be aware that your student was making amazing ornaments for the trees at the White House. These are beautiful ornaments made with wood stained blue from the fungus introduced into the trees by the mountain pine beetle. This stained wood has been a popular item for companies producing wood flooring, cabinets and paneling. The ornaments have already been sent to Washington, D.C.; however, the company that sponsored this project informed Mrs. Hinkle that if students wish to enter a drawing, there is a chance they could win an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., to see the lighting of the Christmas tree. A form for interested families is attached, and it must be postmarked by Monday, Oct. 1.

Conferences
|
Conferences will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 9 and Oct. 11. We would love to have the opportunity to conference with every parent on these two nights, but with 120 students and five teachers, it makes it challenging to schedule all parents in two four-hour evenings. Therefore, we have decided to separate conferences into two sessions:
- During the first evening session, our middle school team will host an invite-only session. This is designed for teachers to address concerns in academic performance or how to support transitioning from one grade to the next at school and at home.
- The second evening of conferences will allow any parents/guardians to sign up for a conference with any teacher(s) they would like, but we are kindly asking that conferences are set up for subject areas with concern. Please be on the look out for an email with SignUp Genius links late next week.
