Classroom Highlights
Here are some highlights of the week:
- Mrs. Furnier's class learned about apples. The children tasted different kinds, talked about their favorites and painted their very own. Be sure to check your child's folder by the writing center each day.
- Mrs. Olson's class celebrated Johnny Appleseed's birthday. Ask your child about the riddle they learned. They also explored fall and all of the wonderful things that happen during the season. Don't forget to help your child create their All About Me poster. Show-
and-tell starts the week of Oct. 1. - Mrs. Spurgeon's class examined the difference between real and fake leaves under magnifying glasses. They also focused on fine motor skills by paper weaving and sewing with yarn.

PAC Preschool Social
If you are planning on attending the annual pumpkin festival at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield this year, consider joining the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) and fellow Ben Franklin Academy preschool families from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13. Wearing Ben Franklin Academy spirit wear is an easy way to spot each other, but we also will host a site so you can find your child's buddies to say "hi" and play together.
Throughout the year, the PAC will sponsor several opportunities to create relationships between
the families in our preschool community, so please join us! Add this social to your calendar; a reminder also will be sent Friday, Oct. 12. For specific details about the event, please click on the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. If you are interested in purchasing spirit wear for your child, go to Ben Franklin Academy's online store.

Quote of the Week
Mrs. Furnier asked Phoebe if she would help clean up the sidewalk chalk. Phoebe sat there thinking for a moment and then replied, "I will, but not the blue ones." Apparently, she did not want the blue chalk on her hands. Clever one!
Sincerely,
Kristen Goldberg
