Dear Preschool Families,
Another great week! Pictures went well with DR Photo. Just in case you forgot to send in your order form, every child's picture was taken unless it was taken during K-8 orientation. You will receive a sample photo to decide if you would like to purchase.

Ride Arrangers
Ride Arrangers is a great service that connects Ben Franklin Academy families for car pool arrangements. The service is available to preschool families this year. Please click here for more information and/or to opt out of the program.

Classroom Highlights
Here are some highlights of the week:
- Mrs. Furnier's class is still missing a lot of family photos. Please be sure to bring one in so your child can enjoy seeing your faces during the day. Boy, does this class like to dance! They were moving and grooving around the classroom. I saw some great tip-toes, skips and marches. Broadway, here they come!
- Mrs. Olson's class was busy learning about living vs. non-living things. They also explored their five senses. They made their first chart of the year as they documented how one uses their senses.
- Mrs. Spurgeon's class learned their addresses this week. It was great to see the excitement over their new skill. They also explored their five senses with the help of Mr. Hoots.

Child Identification Kits
Your child received a child identification kit in their cubby this week. This kit was donated to our school as a resource to families in the event of an emergency. Please be sure to take a moment to complete the kit. These are yours to keep!

Preschool Directory
Our lead room parent is creating a Preschool Directory for families to enjoy. It can be used for play dates, class get-togethers, etc. If you do not want to be a part of the directory, please email me by Friday, Sept. 28.

Kindergarten Enrollment
It is time to start the enrollment process for kindergarten! If your child will be attending kindergarten for the 2013-14 school year, and you wish to place them in the Ben Franklin Academy lottery, please click here to complete the online form.

Upcoming BFA Events
Harvest Festival
Ben Franklin Academy's annual Harvest Festival will be from 5-8 p.m., THIS Saturday, Sept. 22, at the school. The Harvest Festival will include hayrides, a cake walk, face painting and carnival games. Tickets are available at the door for $5 per person. Anthony's Pizza and the Taste of Philly will be on-site selling pizza and sandwiches. For more information, read Principal Barber's newsletter or click here.
STEM Expo
Ben Franklin Academy's STEM Committee is excited to host another amazing STEM Expo on Sept. 28 to get students excited about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Parents are more than welcome to attend the STEM Expo with their student(s) from 3:45-5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28.

Quote of the Week
Mrs. Olson's class estimated how many buttons were in a jar. Cole's guess was, "Too many," and Miska was our big winner who guessed, "38". Pretty impressive!
