Father / Daughter Dance

The Father / Daughter Dance was a huge success. Dads and daughters arrived in their best 80's fashion and danced the night away. Every girl received her own BCBG gift bag of accessories. A few lucky ladies won BDBG purses!!

Christmas Prayer

According to the Bible, the first Christmas angel appeared to Mary and told her that she would have a son called Jesus. Joseph was also visited by a Christmas angel who told him what his role in this world-changing event would be.

After Jesus was born, another group of Christmas angels appeared to the Wise Men, as well as to a circle of Bethlehem shepherds; the shepherds journeyed to the stable where the child Jesus lay. When the Wise Men arrived, they gave the first Christmas presents ever - gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Today Christmas angels are alive and well, appearing just in time to help, save or comfort their human friends. They appear to us in a variety of disguises, but their mission is obvious. They are here to keep us safe and to let us know that we are loved.

May you be surrounded by angels this Christmas and throughout the coming year.

NDA students actively experienced the excitement of working in teams, exchanging ideas, setting goals, and examining issues at the LA Superior Court Mock Trial Competition. Mock Trial promotes a working knowledge of our justice system by having students role play the various facets of a legal case in a courthouse.

Sports Update

SOCCER KICKS OFF SEASON

The NDA Soccer season began last Tuesday with a scrimmage against Santa Monica. Coach Manu Appelius was pleased with several areas of the team's play but cautions that a lot of work remains.

Lead by All-League returners Courtney Gaardsmoe (CSU-Monterey Bay), Julie Sanchez, Annie Cipiti, Halie Times, Michaela McDermott and Kelly Straky, the team is poised to make a run at another Sunshine League title.

This year's JV team, lead by coach Alvarez Ricardez, expects to have a very competitive team this year.

TENNIS TEAM MAKES HISTORY

For the first time in school's history, Notre Dame Academy was represented in Tennis for the Sunshine League Tournament. Led by Coach Barry Easton, the team, comprised of Aleksandra Ruplenas, Madeleine Combs, Brenna Sullivan and Alexa Indra, competed in singles and doubles competition at the Whittier Narrows Tennis Club.

Freshman Aleksandra Ruplenas impressed all with a fourth place finish in the singles competition while the doubles team of Madeleine Combs and Brenna Sullivan took fourth. Impressively, their performance was without any formal practices prior to their matches. Notre Dame Academy was warmly received by the teams of the Sunshine League and looks forward to its first season next school year.

THE REGAL GRYPHON BASKETBALL TEAM IS RARING TO GO!
After summer and fall preparation, our basketball team is ready for competition. Both JV and Varsity won handsomely scrimmaging against our sister school, La Reina, on November 22, 2011. Team members believe that representing NDA with school pride, leadership, and camaraderie is the key to success. Come pack "our house" this season because we are thinking #1. Believe.
