NDA Welcomes New Students and a new year!
The first three weeks of school were packed with activities to welcome our new students, the new student welcome day, Freshman Guidance Days, and Little Sister/Big Sister Pizza Lunch to name a few. It's an exciting start to a great year to come!

Tomorrow is Back to School Night! Meet your daughter's teachers Wednesday, September 7th at Back to School Night. Follow her academic schedule and rotate from class to class. Please join us for refreshments and socializing with other NDA parents and staff. The Parents' Guild will sell NDA Regal Gryphon Spirit items.

Great Job Drama Department! On Saturday, June 4th NDA's drama students performed at the festival for new original musicals and brought the house down. Jeff Marx who created, wrote the Tony Award winning AVE Q sang our praises!

Women Helping Women Every year our young ladies donate towards the Women Helping Women Campaign that provides a $1000 scholarship for a future NDA student. We had a great donation turn out last week. You still have time to turn in your donation. Freshman gift: $1 Sophomore gift: $2 Junior gift: $3 Senior gift: $4 Thank you for helping out a future young woman of NDA!! You can make a difference.

Student Spotlight
Violet Agembah, a junior at NDA, participated in two programs over the summer: National Youth Leadership Conference (NYLC) and UCLA's SMARTS Program.
For NYLC she spent nine days in Virginia modeling the different positions in Congress and politics. Then she participated in a six week program at UCLA dedicated to learning about the engineering, math, and science fields. Violet said both experiences were phenomenal, and she will never forget them. |
Alexis Jones entered an essay contest for the organization Jack and Jill of America Inc. She wrote an essay on the National Debt and Federal budget. Alexis was chosen as one of two winners of the contest. As a reward Alexis will be flying to Washington D.C. in a few weeks. She has the opportunity to visit and sit in on the Congregational Black Caucus.
Congratulations to both of these wonderful ladies.

Dinner with NBA Legend Jerry West
Mr. Jerry West will be dining with the first 20 who purchase $1000 worth of weekly PGA Tour passes. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend the evening in the beautiful NDA convent and listen to a great story-teller, a Los Angeles icon and the Northern Trust Open Chairman for 2011.
