Easter Prayer
| | |
God of mercy,
you wash away our sins in water,
you give us a new birth in the Spirit,
and redeem us in the blood of Christ.
As we celebrate Christ's resurrection,
increase our awareness of
these blessings,
and renew your gift of life within us.
We ask this through our
Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Welcome our German Students into your home
Once again we would like to host two students from our sister school in Vechta, Germany for part of the 2011-2012 school year. The girls, Viktoria and Janina, will arrive in August before school starts and return home in mid-December. As you can imagine, having the girls at our school benefits them and our students. Therefore, we don't want to miss out on this cross-cultural experience.
If you are willing to open your home to either Viktoria or Janina, or if you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact Mrs. Bilac at abilac@ndala.com or phone her at 310.839.5289 x 325 by April 20, 2011.
Thank you for your consideration,
Mrs. Tyhurst |

Swim
We've had a good season so far this year. Led by returning CIF qualifiers Grace Gunderman, Isabelle Alario and Mary-Kate Reid, the Nortre Dame Swim Team has been hard at work since the first week of February and continues to improve. This year we moved up to Division 3 in the Sunshine League competing against Marlborough, Immaculate Heart, Marymount and Ramona Convent. Twelve members of the team participated in the Beverly Hills Invitational last week against some very tough competition, but the girls were well prepared. Both the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay Regal Gryphons swam their fastest times of the season and recorded CIF consideration times just barely missing the automatic time.
The team is still young and lacks the experience and depth of other teams in the league but has seen dramatic gains in the first half of the season, picking up their first win last week against Ramona.
All in all we are happy with the way the season has gone so far, but of course there is always room for improvement. Our attitude and hard work will continue to provide the edge we need to continue our growth this season.

Track and Field
NDA Track on Track for FAST MARKS! The Notre Dame Academy Track & Field squad has made its appearance in the ASICS-Irvine Invitational, Rosemead Invitational, Mustang Relays and the L.A. County Championships. Competing against some of the best from larger divisions, the Regal Gryphons impressed at each event. At the Rosemead Invitational, Ugochi Ogbunamiri set meet records in the 100 and 200 meter dashes while teammate Dayna Grundy broke the record in the triple jump closing in on the school record. NDA opened the Sunshine League in fine style with a 72 - 49 victory over Ramona Convent. The next league meet is against Immaculate Heart followed by the Mt. Sac Relays. Go Regal Gryphons! NDA Arts Update
Art and Photography-
Art Opening- Friday, April 15 from 5-7 p.m..
We will have AP and Advance students work in the West stairwell, Photography in the senior hallway and Socio/political work on the 4th floor.
Concert Choir On February 25th, Concert Choir, known as The Nightingales, spent the entire day at a high school choir festival at Mt. St. Mary's College in Brentwood. Under the direction of Christopher Walker, the choirs from five schools worked for many hours on music to present at an evening concert. Also at the concert, each choir performed several songs individually, with The Nightingales impressing with Green Day's 21 Guns, the French folk song Il court, le furet, and two excellent spirituals. Once again, our girls had a great day making music and learning together!
Advanced Dance On March 26-27, Advanced Dance students participated in an on campus dance convention consisting of six master dance classes taught by industry professionals. This two day event included training in Jazz, Leaps and Turns, Tahitian, Afro-Caribbean, Musical Theater, Hip-Hop, and Modern dance. Not only was this a great opportunity for our dancers to fine tune their skills, but it was also a valuable bonding experience for the girls. |
