Senior Life Experience Week

At the beginning of the second semester, seniors participate in "Senior Life Experience Week." During this week seniors may choose to learn more about how our country works by participating in Close Up in Washington, D.C., or they may opt to participate in a variety of Christian service projects through the L.A. Immersion Project.

This year the Los Angeles Immersion program will consist of working with Heal the Bay, visiting the Museum of Tolerance, assisting teachers at Blessed Sacrament and Dolores Mission Elementary Schools, and helping our brothers and sisters at Blessed Sacrament Social Services, St. Augustine Volunteer Emergency Services (SAVES), Respect Life Center, and PATH (People Assisting The Homeless).

Our seniors "are determined and excited to make a difference in the lives of friends and neighbors in the Los Angeles area." -Mrs. Therese Portman (NDA Christian Service Coordinator)

Dear ,

Happy New Year

I recently read a quotation by Charlotte Bronte that is appropriate for the beginning of a new year. I share this simple thought with you here, "I try to avoid looking forward or backward, and try to keep looking upward."

In this world that puts so many demands on us, we tend to worry about the past and the future, both of which are out of our control. So, for 2011, I pray that you focus on today only, but more importantly, that you remember that the true power lies in the Lord.

When in doubt, remember to look up,

Mrs. Tyhurst

Immaculate Conception School Wide Mass
Mass
For the first time in the history of our schools,  the high school and  elementary school communities joined together to celebrate Mass. The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, honoring our Lady, Notre Dame, was the perfect choice for our first of many combined Masses. In the true spirit of unity, music was provided by a blending of both choirs, and student representatives from a variety of grade levels participated in processions and read petitions.

Prayer for the New Year

Lord, let this year be filled with what is truly good - the comfort of warmth in our relationships, the strength to help those in need, and the humility and openness to accept help from others.

As we make our resolutions for the year ahead, let us go forward with the belief that all things are possible with Your help and guidance.

Amen
