Last month half of the senior class attended the very first NDA Kairos Retreat. A long awaited dream of Campus Ministry and many months of hard work resulted in a wonderful four day retreat "experience" in the mountains of Ramona, CA. Kairos was an amazing opportunity for students to get away from the busy-ness of senior year and reflect on their relationship with God as they prepare for the next phase of life after NDA.

Junior Ring
Ceremony
On Wednesday December 1st, the juniors received their class rings, which bear the coat of arms of the Sisters' congregation. This presents the history, the traditions, and the spirit of the congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame. Wearing the class ring symbolizes the students' status as upperclasswomen and their commitment to the ideals of Notre Dame Academy.

NDA Wins $10,000 in the first PGA Northern Trust Pool!
Thanks to the help of our families, friends and community, we beat out many organizations and won the first pool of $10,000 from the PGA Fundraiser! Some NDA families enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the convent with legendary NBA star Jerry West (pictured on the right with Mr. and Mrs. Soto) as reward for contributing to acheiving our goal. You can help us continue our momentum

Northern Trust Open Facebook Challenge
Now that we have won the first $10,000 contest, we are gearing up to win the next challenge, the Northern Trust Open Facebook C hallenge. We need everyone (students, parents, friends, grandparents, basically anyone with a facebook page) to visit the Northern Trust Open Facebook page and vote for NDA as their favorite to win. Voting starts Monday December 6th.
How to Vote: Visit (click here) Northern Trust Facebook Page and click the "Like" button on the top of the page. Vote for NDA on the "Play for LA" tab. Then post the instructions to your facebook status and get your friends and family involved as well.

Drama Festival
 The Drama Department competed at the 69th annual Fall DTASC Festival on October 30, 2010 at The Central High School for Visual and Performing Arts ! We brought home a 3rd place trophy, 4th place trophy, two 5th place trophies, several honorable mentions and a SWEEPSTAKES trophy signifying one of the best schools overall out of the 70 that competed. All of the winning scenes will be performed at FINE ARTS NIGHT, December 17th. Join us on April 8, 2011 for the opening night of THE STORY OF ALICE, an original Alice In Wonderland. |
Father Daughter Dance
On November 19th Campus Ministry hosted the annual Father Daughter Dinner and Dance. This year's theme was "Take Me Out to the 'Ball' Game!" Daddy-daughter couples turned out in their finest sports attire, tailgated in the Cafe, competed in friendly games, and danced the night away in the school gym. A huge thanks goes out to our grill masters Mr. Yamashita, father of senior Son Yamashita, and Mr. Mercurio, father of junior Gaby Mercurio.

Fine Arts Night- Don't Miss Out!

Our first pillow concert of the year was held on November 18th in
our very own gym. Pajama sporting students sat together on blankets and
pillows and watched their friends sing, dance and act. PINKBERRY was
sold at the door to add to the fun. The Drama Dept. raised $530.00
for their charity, THE INVISIBLE CHILDREN.
