Spring is officially here! I know... I know... I was surprised too. Here in South Carolina it feels like we went straight from fall to summer, and if the temperature in your neck of the woods hasn't tipped you off yet that the seasons have changed, here are a couple of other indicators that might.
Indicator 1) Friends, family members, co-workers and most of the general public are sneezing and coughing incessantly as they rub their swollen, red eyes. We love the flowers and the green grass, but we could do without the pollen. Indicator 2) As much as we try to avoid it, we all know that it's time for spring cleaning.
Spring cleaning doesn't have to be such a drag, however. After all, we all keep our centers looking good year round. Below are a couple of simple ideas that could really make a difference.
- Make sure that you have safety guidelines posted and that the posters are in good shape.
- Post cleaning checklists in your high risk areas i.e. bathrooms, kitchens, pro shops and arcades. Assign each area to one employee each shift and have them sign off when the area is clean. The key to making this work is that you have to follow up.
- Review the center safety manuals that we provide with your staff. If you can't locate your manual, call or email us for a replacement.

April Holidays
 Happy Easter!
Sunday, April 8
Traditionally, Good Friday and Easter Sunday are reserved for church services, Easter egg hunts and spending time with family. Many don't realize that Easter weekend is also huge for the service industry.
The National Restaurant Association is estimating that 35 million people will go out to eat on Easter Sunday. Many of those people will go to brunch prepared specifically for Easter Sunday. While this particular fare may not be in your wheelhouse, there might still be a way to capitalize on the weekend.
Promote a night after the Easter weekend is over that is dedicated to those who work in the service industry. Almost any promotion will work! Drink specials, discounts on games, food specials... the list is endless! These people have had a long, hard weekend and they are ready to unwind and spend some of the extra money they made.
Wednesday,April 25 While not a traditional holiday, Administrative Professionals Day is observed by a large percentage of our population. And although most offices will be open, many will only work for half of the day and use the other half for an office outing. What better place for an office outing than your bowling center!!

Quick Tip
Video games have always been, and still are very successful revenue generators. However, if you lease your games, which most centers do, you need to make sure that they are fully covered.
Check your contract with your vendor to find out who is responsible in the event of a fire, lightning or vandalism. All contracts vary. If you don't have a written agreement, get one today!
