Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  As we all know, it is a day set aside for family and friends to gather and to reflect on the things that we are thankful for, like relatives who can cook, big parades, good food, football, leftovers, naps, Tupperware to store leftover good food, and bowling turkeys.

In the spirit of the holiday, I wanted to begin this newsletter by offering my thanks to all of you.  I truly appreciate the opportunity that you have given me over the years to be a part of your businesses by servicing your insurance needs.

I know what most of you are thinking right now...
 
"Our center is small.  I can see everything that's going on.  We don't need cameras."

Or, "Cameras! There's nothing in here to steal.  We don't keep that much cash on hand."

Or, the most likely excuse, "Cameras might be nice for the bigger centers, but we can't afford them."

If one of these excuses sounds like something you might say, please read on as I try to make my case.

Just as increased technology has decreased the size and price of computers, so it has with security cameras, with the added bonus of quality.  Gone are the days of the conspicuous, rusty, metal box hanging on for dear life to the corner of a building while it records grainy, black-and-white "video" that would make even Charlie Chaplin blush.

New systems can be quickly installed and can integrate seamlessly with most existing computer systems.  Images can be date stamped and backed up digitally, allowing easy access to particular days and events.

Now you're probably thinking, "Bob must have opened a security camera store and is just moonlighting as an insurance agent until his business picks up!"  I assure you, this is not the case.  Recently, I have seen the effectiveness of these systems first hand when identifying robbery suspects, squashing false slip and fall claims, and rooting out employee dishonesty.

While a new or updated security system might not be as inexpensive (free) as we would like for it to be, it just might be more expensive not to have one.

As I mentioned at the top of the newsletter, Thanksgiving is a few short weeks away. 

We have also established (again, at the top) that this is a holiday when friends and family like to gather.

You may want to think about offering your center as a gathering place for businesses having office get-togethers or large families who don't have a house big enough to fit all of the out of town guests comfortably.

At the very least, putting out feelers to provide a Thanksgiving venue will allow you to network in the community. 

Who knows, the added bonus of built-in games might be the deal clincher for a family that doesn't want to hear their crazy uncle's story for the tenth year in a row.  You know, the one about his dentures, the cops, and the girl named Billie he met in jail.


Lastly, I do realize that the picture has nothing to do with the Quick Tip.  However, it's not too often that I get the semi-appropriate opportunity to insert two different pictures of "bowling turkeys" into the same newsletter.
