Nebraska Senate Primary May 15th
Texas Senate Primary May 29th
By

This is the fifth in a series focusing on the 33 Senate seats up for election in 2012
Previously I've covered OH, MS, MD, PA, IN and WV
The Maryland primary on April 3rd saw the election of Republican Daniel Bongino (a former secret service agent), (www.bongino.com or P.O. Box 827, Severna Park, MA 21146), who will face incumbent Democrat Senator Ben Cardin in November.
NEBRASKA will hold their primary for a Senate seat on May 15th. The top 3 Republicans all hold a lead over former Democratic Senator Bob Kerrey, if the election were held today, (John Brunning 55% vs. 33% for Kerrey, Don Stenberg 52% vs. 34% for Kerrey and Deb Fisher 46% vs. 34% for Kerrey). A Republican looks to win this race in November no matter which candidate wins the primary but the contest has become heated between 2 contesting Tea Party supported candidates.
Brunning has been backed by Tea Party Express, while Stenberg has gotten the endorsement of Freedom Works and Republican Senator Jim DeMint's Senate Conservative Fund.
I include in this Newsletter the TEXAS primary on May 29th as well, as it has also become a contest between 2 Republican contenders.
First we have the present Lt. Gov. of TX David Dewhurst being strongly challenged by Tea Party favorite and former Solicitor General of TX Ted Cruz (www.tedcruz.org or Ted Cruz for Senate, 815 A. Brazos, PMB 550, Austin, TX 78701 or phone: 512-637-8777).
Last poll I saw on this primary race showed Dewhurst at 38% vs. Cruz at 27% among Republicans but Dewhurst must reach a 50% threshold to avoid a run-off.
TEXAS looks to also remain a Republican Senate after the retirement of Republican Senate Kay Bailey Hutchinson, while NEBRASKA looks to be a pick-up for the Republicans after the retirement of Democrat Senator Ben Nelson of "cornhusker kickback fame during the Obamacare debate".
June will be a busy month for Senate seat primaries with 9 on the calendar. The first 4 of these will occur on June 5th when CA, MT, NJ and NM hold primaries. The last 3 represent opportunities for Republicans to capture the Senate.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are 4 Senate races we could begin funding now and which represent pick-ups for a more conservative Senate and the END of Harry Reid's leadership. The four are:
Denny Rehberg in MO www.dennyrehberg.com or Montana for Rehberg, P.O. Box 1597, Helena, MT 59624 or phone 406-530-9466.
Rehberg has a good chance to replace Democrat Jon Testor.
Josh Mandel in OH www.joshmandel.com or Josh Mandel for Senate, 50 W. Broad St. Suite 1900, Columbus, OH 43215 or phone 614-754-7304.
Mandel will face Democrat Sherrod Brown in November.
Tom Smith in PA www.tomsmithforsenate.com or Tom Smith for Senate, 333 Allegheny Ave. Suite 202, West Oakmont, PA 15139 or phone 412-265-4631.
Smith will face incumbent Democrat Bob Casey.
George Allen in VA www.georgeallen.com or George Allen for U.S. Senate, 2819 North Parham Rd., Suite 210, Henrico, VA 23294 or phone 804-726-2012.
Allen will face Democrat Tim Kaine in November elections.
