Dear Fellow Patriots,

Happy Thanksgiving!  I trust your week will be filled with happy family events and thoughts of gratitude.  As we can all attest, as we think of our country today and all of the challenges we face, thanksgiving is not one of our first responses. However, unless we acknowledge God's blessing upon our land - and God has truly blessed America - and thank Him for those blessings, we will not be able to take our country back to our founding principles.  Our founding fathers  understood their - OUR - deep and real dependence upon our Creator and they rightly believed that our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness came from Him and that the proper role of government was the protection of those rights.

The first national  Thanksgiving proclamation was issued on October 3, 1789 by George Washington.   Thomas Baldwin was the pastor of The Second Baptist Church in Boston and preached a sermon concerning a public day of Thanksgiving in 1795.  I am sure that reading these two documents will evoke gratitude and help you enter into an attitude of Thanksgiving.

God bless and Happy Thanksgiving!
Randy

... Coming to a TOCB office near you

Beginning on November 30th we will be offering a series of discussion groups, meeting in our TOCB office at 167B West Dearborn. These discussions are a way to learn, share and talk. It seems that talking with other people who share our concerns is great medicine. These groups are informal rap sessions with a leader.  So, the first few are set up:

Tuesdays at 10:00 - POLITICAL ACTION:  Stop in and Dick Doonan will walk you through phone calling your representatives

Wednesdays at 10:00 - FIRST PRINCIPLES:  Randy McLendon will discuss our founding principles,  why our founders created the government as they did.

Thursdays at 10:00 - THE ECONOMY:  Wayne White will discuss the economy, monetary issues and trade.

Fridays at 10:00 - PROPERTY RIGHTS:  Sherry Smart will continue the discussion of Agenda 21.

... Good news from Spain?

Could it be a foreshadowing of things to come here?  Spain has had major problems in their economy, going "green" and having serious problems.  In a recent election, the nation moved right.  Click here to read the article:  Conservatives set to win landslide victory.

...Topography of Faith

 Topography of Faith

Click on the map above to see a fascinating and enlightening look at faith in America.  OK, it is not a look at how well we "live" our faith (daily life and the mirror show us that), but it does reveal our heritage and our baseline beliefs.

...Putting Candidates in the Spotlight

We have established a website that will help us post information about the candidates - local, state and national.  It is simple to post news articles or your personal insights.
Check out this site by clicking here.  You can also find the site by looking at the links on the right hand side of our Taking Our Country Back website.  Look for the link that says "Spotlight on Candidates."  At the bottom of each of the candidates sites is a comment section.  You can insert web links or type your comments.  Check it out.

snow day xx
Saturday December 17, 10:00 to 1:00

Are you looking for a way to make a difference in a child's life this Christmas?  Here is one way.  Suncoast Worship Center has what we call "Snow Day."   Here is what happens, we collect new or "gently used" toys for kids.  Parents are able to come through and pick out Christmas gifts for their children when otherwise there would probably be none.  There is also an area where kids can come in and pick out a gift for their mom and dad. The children get to pick the wrapping paper and we wrap the gifts for them.  It is one of our favorite days of the year.  To make this be a success, we need the following help:

New Toys (unwrapped)
Gently used toys
Gently used parent gifts
Clothing in good condition
Gift wrapping paper and bows
Monetary donations

Please take all donations to the church office (881 S. River Rd., the location of our monthly meetings).  Volunteers are also needed.  For additional information, e-mail Don Hamsher.
