Dear Fellow Patriots,
We are just a few days away from our October meeting. October! Can you believe it? Where has the year gone? And now just 13 months until the Presidential election. The pace of things is increasing. Solyndra. Fast and Furious. Occupy Wall Street/Sarasota. Jobs bill. Job loss. What to do?
I have been reading a book named "How Evil Works," by David Kupelian. The subtitle of the book is "Understanding and Overcoming the Destructive Forces that are Transforming America." The final chapter is on how to prevail against a government and culture gone mad. The major portion of the book is devoted to explaining that evil works by seducing us at the places of our inherent imperfections, i.e. sinful nature. However, he ends by reminding us that just as we have inside of us leanings that can be exploited for evil, we also have a conscience that we can't easily escape or ignore. A person's conscience is reached when it is directly confronted with truth, bypassing what he calls the landmines that have been placed in the minds, even subconscious minds, in our culture.
One illustration is the tactic used by successful street counselors in front of abortion clinics. Instead of the women being confronted with an argument about whether they are carrying a living human being or just a mass of tissue, they offer a free ultrasound. Focus on the Family has helped fund hundreds of the latest generation ultrasound machines for pregnancy clinics. Once they clearly see the fingers and toes and beating heart, 87% of the women choose life. Instead of engaging in arguments that inadvertently step on the landmines our adversaries have planted in their mind, direct confrontation with truth could not easily be ignored.
While working in the political realm to make sure we defeat and elect the right leaders, we also must win back the minds of a great many people. Lets learn how to communicate the truth - the truth and wisdom of our founding principles - in ever more effective ways. This is a fight we must continue well past the next election. Thanks for all you do in our efforts in taking our country back. Keep up the good work.

... first sign waving of the fall
We are going to hold our first sign waving of the season on Saturday, October 22. The theme for our signs will be jobs and the economy. If you have sign suggestions, we would like to know what they are. We will probably have a sign making "party" at the office a few days before that Saturday.

... Monthly Meeting - Tuesday 10/11
Our special guest at our monthly meeting is Karen Schoen. She will be speaking about Agenda 21. Agenda 21 is a coordinated effort to enforce UN agendas or rules on every area of our life - particularly on the community level. Author of Obama Nation
The author of several important books, among them "Obama Nation" and "Where is the Birth Certificate" spoke at the Sarasota Hilton on September 28. There was a good crowd and a very interesting talk. We are grateful to The Sarasota Patriots organization for putting this event on. If you missed his presentation, you can view it on Youtube, thanks to Tad MacKie; it is in eight parts.
