When People Lead

Believing the truth stated on the sign in this picture

When People Lead, Leaders Will Follow

is a key motivation for involvement in our Taking Our Country Back group and the motivation for making our website a useful source of information.  To that end, I want to introduce you to some of the current updates  in our website.  Please check the website regularly.

Agenda 21 / Sustainable Development.  This  is an area where we are getting a real education and realizing that we are way behind the educational curve on this one.  And it is probably more important than anything else we have to deal with.  Click here for an overview.

Precinct Strategy

As I mentioned in my opening comments, becoming organized to reach our neighbors is essential.  For many of us the words "community organizer" has been a dirty word; but it all depends on what you are organizing.  And we are organizing to save our nation from destruction.  For those of us who believe our nation's founding was providential and our Founders wise beyond their own capabilities, organizing is a must.  An essential place to start is organizing at our precinct level.

We are certainly open to suggestions about helpful links or content.  Soon we will have updates from each of our committees and will have a spotlight on politicians and candidates.  To make your suggestions, just e-mail Randy

Precinct Information

As we organize for effectiveness, we believe that knowing each of our voting precincts is important. We have a couple of ways we will try to get that information from you.  At each meeting will have sign up pages for you to give us your precinct number.  If you don't know your precinct number, you can go to our website under the GET INVOLVED tab and go to either the Charlotte or Sarasota site to find it by address.  OR, we have changed our JOIN OUR MAILING LIST feature and when you sign up, it will ask for your precinct number.   If you have received this newsletter, then you are already on our mailing list. However, if you will sign up again, you will have an opportunity to give us the helpful info we need.  We will go through our list to make sure we don't send you duplicate e-mails.

Greetings fellow Patriots!

Things are heating up.  OK, maybe I am getting the weather mixed up with politics, but it is true in both realms.

The left is gearing up already for electoral fights.  They can see they are losing ground and they are not going to give up easily.  They are hosting conferences, raising money, recruiting "community organizers" and candidates.

Our job over the rest of this year is to educate and organize - educate ourselves and our neighbors  concerning issues and organize to reach our neighbors by become community organizers ourselves.

And, not only do we need to become educated, we need to become effective communicators of what we learn.  I had a seminary professor once who said that anything than can be said, can be said well.  We must learn to communicate with the coolness of facts rather than the heat of emotion.

So, onward we go.

Say No to Sunrail

"Not later than July 2nd, Governor Rick Scott must decide the fate of the ill conceived SunRail project in Central Florida.  Though rumor and speculation abounds, the Governor has not yet made his intentions known in this classic "David and Goliath" battle between weary taxpayers seeking fiscal responsibility and accountability in government, versus big spending government and special interest groups."

Read the full Red County article by Dr. Richard Swier.

Call Gov. Scott to urge him to say NO to Sun Rail. He must decide by July 2nd. His number is 850-488-7146.  I know, one unwise train down, but still one more to go.

Fire District town hall mtg

Englewood Fire Chief Brian Gorski has scheduled a series of town hall meetings, two a month, between now and August, where he hopes to discuss with the public the fire district's revised assessment methodology  and any other issue on the peoples' minds.  The dates of the remaining town hall meetings are:

July 7, 9:00AM

July 21, 5:00PM

August 9, 9:00AM

August 16, 5:00PM

So far, each meeting has seen only a very few people show up.  We are highlighting the July 21 meeting as the time we would like to have a good turnout at the meeting from our TOCB group.  The newspaper reports that TOCB members have been at previous meetings asking questions and I want to thank those of you who have attended.  Let's make it the more the merrier on 7/21.

The location of all the meetings will be in the activity room at the Englewood Sport's Complex, 1300 S. River Rd in Englewood.  For more information, call the fire district at 941-474-3311.

Chief Gorski is to be commended for making himself available to the public like this.  May his tribe increase among public servants.  Thank you Chief.

Looking for Office Space

We have been looking for a store front where we could be open during the days to provide information and signs and make our group more available to the public.  We are looking at some options.  Now we need to know if you would support such an endeavor.  If we had 20 people pledge $20 a month or 40 people pledge $10 per month, we believe we could find a place.  We would like to rent a place through election day 2012, so about 18 months from now.  We would need commitments to cover at least $400 per month and maybe $500.  We would not want to rent for any more money than that.  If this is something you would be willing to commit to, would you please e-mail Randy with RENT PLEDGE in the subject line.  We are not asking for any money now, just getting a feel for if this is something we could do.
