Transportation Update
Dear Neighbor,

We know that the state of our transportation infrastructure is directly linked to our economic potential and to our quality of life. Massachusetts was ahead of its time in establishing the nation's first subway in 1897 and transportation investment has been a hallmark of our economic success stretching back to the 1700s.

This fall, residents of our Commonwealth will be having important discussions about the current state of our transportation infrastructure and the challenges identified by the non-partisan Transportation Finance Commission. We will be working toward a long-term plan for addressing our significant transportation debt, while ensuring we have a sustainable transportation system that meets the needs of our residents and businesses.

These conversations are particularly important to our towns here in Metrowest, where commuters and businesses rely on the commuter rail to get to work, and where we have such potential to welcome new businesses and create jobs.

In the coming weeks, representatives from each division of the Mass Department of Transportation (MassDOT) -- the Registry of Motor Vehicles, Massachusetts Highway, Aeronautics, and MBTA/Rail and Transit-- will be holding hearings to review the state our our current system with the public.
