WANT TO HOST A MIXER? FALL MIXER DATES AVAILABLE

Sam's Club of Vernon Hills welcomes GLMV members to the store's summer Free After-Hours Mixer.  Attendees enjoyed networking, (Sam's Famous Meatballs), refreshments, fun and more while learning more about the benefits of Sam's Club memberships. Individuals or businesses who join Sam's Club receive a $20 Gift Card along with savings on all the items you need.
Platinum Member Lars Rasmussen, World Financial Group; Pat Hart, Attorney; Steve Deluca, WSI Internet Marketing; GLMV Interim Executive Director Dave Ferguson, The Growth Coach

WHAT'S A MIXER?
Is it a drink? A kitchen appliance? A conference? A summit? Well, all of the above, but in our case it's an informal face-to-face business networking event held at a member business where you meet new people and renew acquaintences. You'll feel the comfortable professional enviornment the minute you walk in as the hosts greet you.

Mixers are among the most popular of Chamber member activities, generally drawing attendees from a wide variety of businesses. Attendance is free and not limited by industry. Our hosts provide really cool settings for networking as well as plenty of food and beverage. We emphasize the opportunity for hosts to showcase their business, while letting attendees connect and learn more about each other's businesses.

Mixer hosts are needed so our members can really mix it up. Mixers are generally held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday's 5:30-7:30 pm. The cost to host a mixer is $180 -- includes event publicity/coverage including e-blasts, calendar listings, annoucements and flyer distribution at events, announcments in local media, etc. We also take RSVP's and photos for you. And while you mix and mingle we handle registration and name tags. Mixer hosts may do a brief presenation about their business, provide raffles, giveaways, food & beverage.

So, if you're looking for a way to make new connections and/or showcase your business, make sure to attend or host a mixer. Hurry and contact the Chamber Office to lock in your mixer date. We can't wait to mix it up at your business.

Why Not to Advertise
* Your business is bursting at the seams with customers
* Local markets are not your target
* Your business never advertises -- why start now?
* Advertising doesn't work
* Networking groups and Facebook work
* Your website is great
* The competition will know what you are doing
* Creating an ad is difficult
* No time or money

Networking gurus and marketing professionals alike will tell you it takes a variety of methods over time to promote your business, and it is vital to keep your business in the "public" eye. Once your ad is created, post it on your web pages, e-blast it out and/or distribute it as a handout at your newtorking meetings, and tell people you are featured in the magazine!

Tips For Creating an Ad:
When creating your ad, keep it simple and clean.
The most important items to include:
* Your offer and how it can benefit others.
* Contact information
Don't be shy about telling folks you are featured in a publication. Remember, your ad gives you credibility to the public. Now that's smart marketing.

So, start spreading the word about your business.
Ad sales close September 30. Several advertising options are available.
