LIVING TRUE TO YOURSELF... 

During our most recent Eureka Springs Salon gathering, the "salonistas" gathered there considered the idea of "unconsciousness." At times we allowed ourselves to be limited to the psychological view; at others, to the "scientific" view of reality, i.e., what can be measured is real. At still others, we considered the topic from the foundation of spiritual consciousness, of cosmic potentiality.  

For me, much of our conversation continued to perk inwardly overnight, until inspiration brought what follows below out of the fog of ego consciousness. Life has taught me that this will not be the last of what inspiration will have to say, to be sure...

Our innate state, our very Nature, no matter what we may want to call it or what it is informed by--whether from the likes of joy, nature, peace, spiritual consciousness, or compassion--is much like the sun. Indeed, like the sun, our innate Nature is always present and being only what it is, no matter what else appears to be happening in and around us.  It's only our focus on the clouds or some other earthly distraction that keeps the sun, like our real Nature, from view--our focus on the darkness within and around us that seems to make them disappear. Out of sight, out of mind.   

Surely, when distracted, the sun appears not to be present, often even as it shines brightly on us.  Yet, trials and tribulations notwithstanding, the sun remains true to us, just as the reality of spiritual, cosmic consciousness--our authentic state of being--remains true to us.

Appearance is the ego's way of reinforcing forgetfulness, thus allowing the illusory nature of appearance to seem real.  See how easily we are influenced by illusion--the power we give to appearance--even as spiritual awareness unceasingly informs our innate, most natural state? Abiding spiritual awareness--reflecting the image and likeness of the symbolic sun--we demonstrate the infinite, immortal Truth of our being, without fail. Some would call this symbolic representation God, or Truth, Life, Love, Being. What we call the symbolic representation is meaningless. It's name matters not at all. What does matter is what we allow spiritual or cosmic consciousness--this inner knowing-- to be for us. What matters is whether or not we allow spiritual or cosmic consciousness to order our lives.

It's living from the inspirational Nature of spiritual or cosmic consciousness that we are empowered to be--to walk in--the Truth for us. Thus is our identity, our spiritual authenticity, demonstrated. It's only when we allow our view of self to be influenced by ego conscious limitation that we succumb to a vision of ourselves that is far less, far smaller, than what spiritual consciousness--cosmic potentiality--opens our awareness to be.

It seems to me that our purpose might well include the practice of remembrance, until re-membering with our authentic selves becomes our new habit. Thus the idea of forgetfulness--believing in appearance and calling appearance real or the Truth--falls aside. This isn't a matter of choice. Simply put, as illusion, ego consciousness ceases to be an option available for consideration.

Have an extraordinary life being true to your real self--any clouds, any illusions, to the contrary. You wear your authenticity so well!
