How 'bout that stew?!
I've often felt that the term "melting pot" was an unfortunate term to use in describing our country. It seems like our gub'ment wants us homogenized, to look and act all the same. I much prefer using the term "stew pot" to describe our population. That way, we each get to contribute our individual flavor to the whole, and still retain our uniqueness while providing the stew called America character beyond reproach.
Heck, if we're going to homogenize, we may as well do away with the special days set aside to celebrate our various international roots and instead celebrate only St. Homogenity Day: white, pasteurized, and sterilized beyond recognition, leaving us all with nothing but a white mustache to reflect our legacy!

Spirit by another name...
There was once an Irishman named Murphy who walked into an American
Bar. He sat down and asked the Bartender "Give me three shots o' your
finest Irish Whiskey!" The bartender complies.
After about a week the bartender asks, "Murphy, would it be better for
yeh if I put all three shots of Irish Whiskey into one glass?"
Murphy replied, "Well no. See, I have two other brothers back at home,
Patrick and Owen, and everytime I come into a pub or bar I order a shot
for each o' them so I can remember the good times."
After another week of this routine, Murphy comes into the bar and
only asks for two shots of Irish Whiskey. The bartender immediately
says "Murphy, is everything ok? Did somethin' happen to one of your
brothers?" "Oh no", Murphy said, "I just decided to quit drinkin!"

Sounds like something Patrick might say...
The
creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play
instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects
it loves. The best way to bring
novel experiences and fresh perspectives into your life is not with non-stop
serious talk and intense analysis, but with a generous dose of playful
improvisation and experimental fun.
In other words, stop taking yourself so seriously--lighten up so
intuition can have her way with you!

DEAR SUBSCRIBER,
Isn't it funny how everyone suddenly finds an excuse for being Irish this month? Nevertheless, seeing that this is the month for celebrating St.Patrick's Day--among other people and things dear to our hearts--I thought we might as well share some Irish humor, as well as a bit of wisdom. Some of it will have a spiritual bent, others not. You may want to email me some things to my website so we can share them--by all means feel free to do so at: www.creationspirit.net. Alright, lassies and laddies, here we go--let's kiss the Blarney Stone!

Oh my, sister!
The 98 year old Mother Superior from
Ireland was dying. The nuns gathered around her bed trying to make her last
journey comfortable. They gave her some warm milk to drink but she refused.
Then one of the nuns took the glass back to the kitchen. Remembering a bottle
of Irish whiskey received as a gift the previous Christmas, she opened and
poured a generous amount into the warm milk. Back at Mother Superior`s bed, she
held the glass to her lips. Mother drank a little, then a little more and
before they knew it, she had drunk the whole glass down to the last drop.
"Mother," the nuns asked with earnest, "please give us some
wisdom before you die." She raised herself up in bed and with a pious look
on her face said, "Don't sell that cow.

Worthy of Irish inspiration...
Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave their footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same.

And a few Irish quotes for good measure...
You've got
to do your own growing, no matter how tall your grandfather was.
It is easy
to be pleasant when life flows by like a song, but the man worthwhile is the
one who will smile when everything goes dead wrong. For the test of the heart
is trouble, and it always comes with years, and the smile that is worth the
praises of earth is the smile that shines through the tears.
I believe
in the sun when it's not shining, I believe in love even when I feel it not, I
believe in God even when he is silent.
There are
fish in the sea better than have ever been caught.
It is
better to be a coward for a minute than dead for the rest of your life.

On angels and miracles...
It is as we live the Truth of divine
consciousness that we see miracle after miracle appearing before our
inner vision. In the framework of ego consciousness we get only an occasional
glimpse of miracles in the outer world, and it usually takes a fairly large one
to get our attention. However, when we are viewing Life like an eagle high on a
cliff-side perch, we are able to see more of Life, and from a very different
perspective. When viewing Life from a high degree of awareness, spirituality
regularly informs us with the gifts of the Kingdom--and Life abounds with
miraculous imagery. Indeed, our lives are filled with new intuitions and
insightful awareness--an infinitude of sacred treasures.
I would
not say the miracles become commonplace, because that could be understood
to mean that we may one day take them for granted. Instead, the meaning of
commonplace I would like to convey is that the beauty and form of spiritual
miracles can be everywhere found as we go throughout our everyday lives. When we
see through our newfound spiritual eyes, Life in all its forms is miraculous to
us. We no longer identify Life as mundane. Rather, we come to celebrate the
divine, miraculous nature of which the mundane is composed. What could be
better--and more the Truth? How miraculous!
This is somewhat like
being able to see, and be informed by, angels. From a metaphysical point of
view, angels are simply messages of Truth released from within, resonating as a
sure path for us. From time to time we hear someone say something that moves us
to Truth. Or it saves us from an impending disaster. An angelic
message can come to us as a book that seemingly jumps off the shelf into our
hands. When opened at random, it has just the answer we need right then. I have
heard it said that angels and miracles, and even coincidental happenings, are
God's way of remaining anonymous. What is really happening is that we are put in
touch with the calling of Soul--our own highest good, Christ consciousness or
Truth--so we can surrender to that voice, rather than to some erroneous
calling outside us. This is a nice way of saying we have avoided the perils of
duality.
In this way, we are touched by the voice of an angel
that has only our best interest at heart. As we become more and more adept at
listening for the voice of Spirit, we hear these angelic messages more
regularly. As we surrender to the messages we hear, they become more prominent
in our presence. From this presence we are born again to conscious awareness of
inner Truth and live it faithfully.
We also hear angels speak
when we listen carefully to the spaces between the words of a
conversation with another; when we see the Truth spoken between the lines of
elegant prose or idyllic poetic expressions; when we celebrate the sparkle of
early morning dew on blades of grass; or simply when we are inspired by a
suggestion that occurs to us "out of the blue." Agreed, these could well be
slightly different renditions of what angels are, but when living in the world
of divine consciousness things just look and sound very different from what
we're used to seeing and hearing.
When you are able to view Life
from such a perspective, not only will your Life be filled with angels
all around you, but you will also come to see that you, too, are angelic. Others
will surely see you this way; perhaps already do, even though they may not call
you that name. They might just say that they find you immensely helpful or
inspirational, or that you lift their spirits. Either way, your behavior fits
the description of One. At first, you may feel overcome with such a spiritual
idea, but the Truth never hurts. It only informs us what Truth is. So get used
to it, already! That's when the miracles really show up.
