We still need your photos of recent Northwest activities.

Please contact Diana Kohler  dk.nwuu@gmail.com if you have photos to share.

You oughta be in pictures . . . this Sunday!

When you come to church this Sunday, please help us add color to our new website.  Please wear (or bring along your brightly colored shirt to put on after the service) and help us make a human rainbow for our website.

Please bring your Northwest Standing on the Side of Love shirt for pictures too.

Attention:  all Northwest photographers!  Bring your cameras and take candids.  Your great photography can make our new website look even better.
Weekly Gatherings

Sunday, June 13, 2010: Flower Communion
Rev. Kimi Riegel

Each year we Unitarian Universalists celebrate a flower communion. Like a traditional communion, we share in the glory of creation. We each bring a flower to church and take a different one home. Don't have any flowers? Don't worry; we always have enough. Flower communion is the celebration of our community. Don't miss it!

Sunday, June 20, 2010: Joseph Tuckerman
Service Leader:  Sarah Snow

Joseph Tuckerman was a Unitarian minister who was way ahead of his time.  He worked with the poor, alcoholics, prisoners, etc., from 1826 - 1839. Tuckerman's simple beliefs give us a framework for making the right choices. Religious organizations, such as our church, have tools to make those choices a reality.

Sunday, June 27, 2010: What's Hot, What's Not
Rev. Kimi Riegel

A report from General Assembly.  Every year Unitarian Universalists from around the continent gather in June.  This year we will be in St Paul, Minnesota.  One of the big topics this year will be whether to hold our Assembly in 2012 in Arizona.  Is it better to go to Arizona and protest the oppressive laws or is it better to send a message by withdrawing our support of the state entirely?  What do you think?
Kimi's Column

The garden is looking good and the temperature are encouraging outdoor activity.  I think summer is almost here! At Northwest Unitarian Universalist we decided a few years ago to be a full service church - which meant having services all year round.  I take a study/vacation break in July, but the church goes on. For many of us it seems odd that a community would take a break but we used to.  I will be back in the pulpit the first Sunday in August as we gear up for another church year.

I am grateful to all of you who have attended the church budget meeting.  It will be a challenging year up but we are not alone in that.  Thank you to all who have given of your financial resources - we are because you give.

If you need to reach me during the month of July please call the office - Marlene, the church secretary, will know where I am. If you have a personal crisis don't hesitate to get in touch with me - I will be in town and I am willing to help.   Namaste.
