Update on Stand with Main Street
update on the previous story by Marci Hughes
by Una Winterman, Local First Indiana
Online retailers currently don't have to pay sales tax in the state of Indiana. Because all other retail has to charge 7% sales tax, this gives online retailers a 7% discount on all items.
Fort Wayne's Journal Gazette Editorial on the recent announcement that Amazon is planning a fourth warehouse in Indiana. Amazon has been assured, continually, by Secretary of Commerce Mitch Roob that Indiana has no plans to collect state taxes for online purchases, though this issue is currently being discussed in a Summer Study Committee at the Indiana Statehouse, as it is in many other states.
Indy Star article: Amazon is planning a 4th distribution center in Indiana after leaving several other states who are asking them to pay state income taxes.
This Letter to the Editor was written by Bob Thatcher, the General Manager and Director of Leasing for Concord Mall Triyar Canon Group.
If you are concerned about this issue, we urge you to join the 75 business owners who have already signed up across the state to request a level playing field when it comes to paying taxes. Sign the petition to get updates and find out how to help.
Friend Stand with Main Street on Facebook to get updates about this issue across the country. |

Imagine: Health & Wellness
Offering Group HypnoBirthing Childbirth Class Series at The Green Nursery
615 West Kirkwood Avenue
kat@imaginehealthandwellness.com
Thursday night classes beginning Aug 4th through Sept 1st @ 6 pm.
"HypnoBirthing® - The Mongan Method is not a new philosophy, but rather a ""rebirth"" of the philosophy of birthing as it existed thousands of years ago and as it was recaptured in the work of Dr. Grantly Dick-Read, an English obstetrician, who, in the 1920s, was one of the first to forward the concept of natural birthing. The method teaches you that, in the absence of fear and tension, or special medical circumstances, severe pain does not have to be an accompaniment of labor.
You will gain an understanding of how the birthing muscles work in perfect harmony--as they were designed to--when your body is sufficiently relaxed and you trust birth. You will learn how to achieve this kind of relaxation, free of the resistance that fear creates, and you will learn to use your natural birthing instincts for a calm, serene and comfortable birth.
