BMX Show High Flyin' Experience!BMX

Tricks, twists and turns...the BMX bike show was all about big air!  The entire school was totally entertained by this wonderful final prize from the successful FPA magazine drive.  The performers were world-renown and professional BMX riders. They did not let us down with their high-skill tricks and wonderful message about how important education is in fulfilling our dreams and goals. Everyone held their breath as a professional BMX rider jumped over 6'9" Junior High math teacher, Mr. Faust sitting on top of a ramp.  Luckily the rider successful competed the jump!   Thank you to everyone who supported the FPA in this year's magazine drive!

8th Graders Go To Jail!

On Thursday, March 22, 2012, our 8th graders actually wenNicolet to jail! During their visit to the North Justice Center in Fullerton, students got to experience the actual day to day operation of our legal system. They sat in on traffic court and learned that one small mistake can cost big dollars. A deputy sheriff showed them a police car and the jail where the detainees are kept. Observing a real trial gave them the opportunity to see how cases are tried--they even listened to witnesses being questioned. Finally, they were able to participate in a "mock trial" and play the various roles of all the participants in a trial. It was a great learning experience to see our judicial system in action.

Seventh Grade Visits the Museum of Tolerance

An Education in MOTivation...at the MOT

MOT stands for Museum of Tolerance, the only museum of its kind in the world. It is the educational arm of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, an internationally renowned human rights organization dedicated to promoting respect and mutual understanding, through education, community partnerships and civic engagement.

Established in 1993, the MOT has welcomed over five million visitors, mostly middle and high school students. Visitors become witnesses to history and explore the dynamics of bigotry and discrimination that are still embedded in society today. Through interactive exhibits, special events, and customized programs for youth and adults, the Museum engages visitors' hearts and minds, while challenging them to assume personal responsibility for positive change.

Our seventh graders, after reading The Dairy of Anne Frank visit the MOT.  They engage in the state-of-the-art interactive exhibits that expose the dynamics of prejudice and discrimination historically and today. They witness history as they journey through the Holocaust exhibit and receive a photo passport card of a child whose life was changed by the Holocaust.
