American Cancer Society "Relay Recess"
The Anaheim Hills campus is excited to be hosting the American Cancer Society's Relay Recess the week of March 5-9. The American Cancer Society Relay Recess brings education and community service to your child's classroom in a fun and exciting way that allows stud ents to help save lives from cancer. Through our Relay Recess program, your child will learn about cancer and steps they can take to reduce their risk of developing the disease and stay well. The American Cancer Society Relay Recess helps your child and your family start on a lifelong path to healthier living and educates you about how to reduce your chances of getting cancer. Each day of the week will have a cancer education point such as: physical activity, good nutrition, sun safety and tobacco prevention.
A student committee has planned several very fun activities for the week, such as an all-school bake sale (we are looking for donations of yummy baked goods for their sale!), a "Change-Drive" (you can bring in all your pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters!), Cancer Bracelet sale and for a one dollar donation (for a PURPLE FOOT Fight Cancer card) students can have FREE dress on Friday, March 9! The week will culminate in a Relay Recess on Friday, March 9 from 2:00pm-3:00pm. All of the JK-8th grade students will be walking on the turf side of the school, we are inviting any cancer survivors to come and walk the first lap with us!
We are very excited about educating our students and for supporting the ACS in their quest to prevent and cure cancer!
If you would like to donate baked goods to our bake-sale on Wednesday, March 7 please contact Vicky Mantell at vmantell@fairmontschools.com or call (714) 693-3812 x1305
