Book Fair

Friday, October 14-Thursday, October 20

Exciting New Changes for the Book Fair

Scholastic Book Fairs will come to our school, October 14th through October 20th, to share exciting books and learning products with our young readers.  Parents and teachers will find plenty of items to interest them too.  For the first time ever, the Book Fair will offer online shopping, which greatly expands the number of books available to inspire our students to read.  Online shopping is available now, and will continue through October 26th .  Books will be shipped, free of charge to the school and delivered to your child in class a few days after the online fair closes.  Visit the online fair today at: http://tinyurl/ahbookfair.

The Book Fair will be open on campus each day before school (7:30-8:30), after school (3:00-4:00), and during morning snack time.  Special extended day hours (3:00-6:00) will be held on Tuesday, October 18th.  Special hours for preschool parents (12:00-12:30) will be Tuesday and Wednesday. Students may also shop during their weekly Library class.

One of the Book Fair's primary goals is to help teachers build classroom libraries.  Visitors to the Fair can check each teacher's Classroom Wish Box, then purchase and donate a requested book, helping teachers develop a rich array of learning resources. Teacher wish lists may also be posted at the Online Book Fair. Fairmont will use funds raised at the Book Fair to purchase additional books for the School Library.

If you are interested in volunteering, please stop by and sign up.  We look forward to seeing you at the Book Fair!

Fall Festival is a Huge Success!

Barry EDITEDCheck out all the pictures on Flickr

Thank you to our amazing FPA Fall Festival committee!  The 2011 Fall Festival was a huge success with a wonderful array of crafts and games and attractions.  All of our families could bungee jump, launch water balloons at each other, go on a swinging pirate swing and slide down the giant slide just to start with.  The students loved the creative face-painting and colorful hair sprays, as they headed off to the fabulous crafts and game booths!  One hit of the night was the "fish-toss" game, in which you could win a real, live fish!

A highlight of the night was getting to splash our director, Barry Drake, in the "Royal Flush!"  A special thank you to our other willing participants: Martin Bloomingdale, Marcus Arias, Wendy Knudson, Keegan Lewis, Mr. Al and Mr. Aaron!

The DJ kept us hopping all night long with so many fun games, like the sunflower seed spitting contest, the water-balloon toss and a wet paperbag toss!  There was also a watermelon eating contest that was SO much fun (and messy!) to watch.

All the food items, (provided by Bucanner's Pizza, Spud-Runners and Fun-Funnel Cake) were delicious and it was very hard to avoid all those yummy calories.  The Cake Walk was absolutely a hit and the kids loved hearing their number called and picking out a delicious goodie!

It was so wonderful to see so many families having a fun-filled evening and this year the weather was even perfect!

Thank you very much to all of the parent and teacher volunteers. The FPA truly could not have succeeded without all of your help!  If you see Stacy Simpson, Lisa Santos, Debbie Shaffer, Caryn Chavez, Eva Harmon, Sonya Mai or Cari Calvy around please thank them for an incredible job. They spent hundreds of hours planning this amazing event for us to spend with our families!
