Fall Festival
Wonderful, amazing, fantastic! The Fall festival was a huge success! Even though the weather was a 'touch' on the warm side, everyone had a great time. The pie-eating contest was a giant hit and everyone enjoyed watching their children and teachers put their face in a big pie!
Thank you so very much to the FPA and to the hundreds of parents, students, staff and teachers that volunteered. A special thank you to our FPA president, Shelly Kim, for her incredible vision and desire to see the Fall festival be a wonderful family-bonding event.

Student Spotlight:
Anastasia Huddleston Going For Gold!
The Fairmont Anaheim Hills campus is proud to spotlight fourth grader, Anastasia Huddleston in our first "Student Spotlight" feature! Anastasia has been a student at Fairmont since pre-school and maintains straight "A"s in Miss Romo's Fourth grade class.
She has been figure skating for the last 6 years, since she was 3 years old! Anastasia skates at 6 days a week for at least 8 hours a week. Her practices are very intense, but she truly loves working on her routines. She is coached by two-time Olympic Champion, Ekaterina Gordeeva! Off the ice, Anastasia works on conditioning, strength training, stretching and ballet to improve her over-all skating skills.
She is very competitive and always places very high in her competitions; in her last two state-wide events she placed 2nd and 3rd. In addition to all the figure skating and maintaining straight A's, Anastasia also attends Russian school on Saturdays, where her favorite subject is drama. Congratulations, Anastasia, and we are so proud of all your successes! |

Book Report
"If You Give A Moose a Muffin" by Laura Joffe Numeroff
I love this book because it reminds me of my daily life...moving from room to room, task to task!! Like every busy parent....this book always makes me laugh, and I love the illustrations! Vicky Mantell

"If you give a moose a muffin, he'll want some jam to go with it." So begins the most logical silliness to be found anywhere--at least since Laura Joffe Numeroff and illustrator Felicia Bond's If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Readers will follow a young boy and his voracious visitor through a series of antlered antics: jam reveries and puppet shows and big messes. It all makes perfect sense, really, once you stop to think about it. What moose wouldn't want to borrow a sweater when it's cold outside? And why shouldn't the loose button on the sweater remind him of his grandmother? Bond's cleverly detailed, witty illustrations perfectly complement Numeroff's deadpan style. Through just a few deft words and brush strokes, the reader gets a real sense of the unique personalities of the two characters. Children will relate easily to the full-circle reasoning of the story, while picking up the concept of cause and effect. The moral of the story? Keep plenty of muffin mix and blackberry jam in your cupboard. You never know who may drop by. (Great read aloud, ages 4 to 8) --Emilie Coulter |
