Landmarks Commission Designates First West End Avenue Historic District Extension!
By unanimous vote of the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC), the Riverside-West End Historic District Extension I has been designated!
This day would never have come without the determination and steadfast support of preservationists - like YOU! - and key leadership from neighborhood representatives and our elected officials, listed below. The Road Ahead: What Happens After the Landmarks Commission Vote?
Today's vote to designate the first of three proposed historic district extensions on the Upper West Side (anchored by West End Avenue) will be followed by hearings of both the City Planning Commission and the City Council.
In addition to Council Member Gale Brewer, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn needs to hear from you, too! She is an integral part of the City Council's role in the designation process.
The full City Council will vote to affirm the LPC's designation of the Riverside-West End Historic District Extension I, so please make sure to write, email or call your own local Council Member as well. Find your local City Council Member's contact information her;, a short-and-sweet note is all it takes! Again, please send a blind-carbon copy (bcc) to LW! and we'll make sure copies get to all 51 members of the City Council.
