The first of these three hearings, covering West End avenue from 79th to 87th Streets, will be Tuesday, March 22nd.  An important date, so mark your calendar!  To know more about what to expect at the public hearing, and what the benefits and responsibilities are of living in a landmark neighborhood, please join us for Living with Landmarks!

The morning will begin with a brief presentation by Prof. Mosette Broderick, Director of the Urban Design and Architecture Studies program at New York University, on the history and development of the Upper West Side.  Then, breakfast co-sponsors will engage our audience in a friendly Q&A.  Got questions?  Get answers!

Historic Districts Council Annual Conference

Connect with residents of historic districts across the city!

This weekend, get a crash course in historic district preservation (perfectly timed for our March 9th breakfast!), and hear discussion about the preservation movement's future!  Join the Historic District Council (HDC), the city-wide advocate for New York's historic neighborhoods, for their 17th Annual Conference: "Looking Forward, Looking Back: Forty Years of Preserving New York City Neighborhoods".

For more info and to buy tickets, visit HDC.

The conference will examine the history and changes within the preservation community, looking back at successful campaigns, unfortunate losses, the lessons we have learned, and use this reflection to kick-off discussion of how we can use this information to inform future preservation efforts. The conference is co-sponsored by more than 200 community-based organizations from across the five boroughs.

Opening Night Reception    Friday, March 4th, 6PM to 8PM

One of the best and liveliest parties in the preservation calendar (LANDMARK WEST! will surely be there!)!  This is your opportunity to meet activists from across the city and find out what's really going on in New York.  From the top of the Bronx to the bottom of Staten Island, preservationists can connect with colleagues and learn about

the latest neighborhood campaigns.

Location: General Society of Mechanics & Tradesmen

neighborhoods.
