Don't miss the chance to be among 25 New England journalists studying FOI law and investigative reporting techniques at the New England First Amendment Institute this fall.
The Sept. 30-Oct. 2 program is the second annual presented by the New England First Amendment Coalition and Northeastern University's Initiative for Investigative Reporting.
"This is an opportunity to learn from the best," said Rosanna Cavanagh, NEFAC's executive director. "The training the fellows receive will set them up to be leaders in their newsrooms on right-to-know issues."
Applications are due Aug. 15 and successful candidates will be notified by Aug. 20. Links to the application materials are at right.
The faculty assembled to present the curriculum includes Pulitzer, Emmy and Polk award winners as well as the region's top First Amendment lawyers and leading academics. Read more about the program in the July issue of The NEFAC Report
The 25 fellows who gather at the New England Newspaper and Press Association's headquarters in Dedham, Mass., also will have ample opportunities to compare experiences and learn from one another, Cavanagh said.
"The fellows will themselves be accomplished journalists, so there will be a wealth of practical, collective wisdom to be shared," she said.
The Institute is supported by a grant from the McLean Contributionship on behalf of The Telegraph of Nashua, N.H.
