FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Pershing Families,
What a great year it has been at Pershing Middle School. I would like to wish our eighth grade
students the very best as they prepare to leave us and head off to high
school. What a great group of students! I know they are well prepared and will find
success in high school. The eighth grade promotion ceremony is scheduled for
Wednesday, June 2 at 8:15 a.m. The
ceremony will take place in the Pershing Gym.
Looking ahead to next school year, sixth grade orientation
will be held on August 10th at 9:00 a.m. There will
be a parent meeting at this orientation.
NEW this coming school year...seventh and eighth grade students will have
a schedule pick-up day. On August 18th
eighth grade students will pick up schedules from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30
a.m. Seventh grade students may pick up
schedules from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Parents will need to accompany his/her student to sign for the schedule. Teachers will be in their classrooms so you
may find your classes but there will
NOT be an orientation meeting.
School supply lists are currently posted on our Pershing webpage. You will receive a postcard from Pershing the
first week of August reminding you of your schedule pick up date/time as well
as what Pershing Team you have been assigned to for the school year. This will assist you in selecting the
appropriate school supply list from our webpage. We are fortunate at Pershing to have an outstanding team of
teachers. Our testing data has shown
that all of our Pershing students thrive under their instruction and
leadership. Rest assured that no matter
what team your student is assigned to he/she will have an outstanding school
year. Please do not send requests for
team assignments. Additionally, the
schedule your student receives in August is final. Any errors made on schedules will be
corrected but students will not be reassigned to different teams. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and
understanding.
Thank you for making Teacher Appreciation Week at Pershing
the best. I know many parents sent in
donations to help us ALL feel very special and appreciated. We are blessed to have such tremendous
support from our Pershing community. I
know that I speak for the entire staff when I say it is a privilege to serve
you.
Have a WONDERFUL summer break. School starts on August 24th at
8:00 a.m.
Regards,
Dr. Natalie Cauldwell

R.E.A.D.
R.E.A.D.
classes are wrapping up their final weeks of Reading and Writing Workshops.
Please continue to see that your child is completing their five entries and
book club assignments for reading weeks and their papers for writing weeks.
Sixth grader students have been working on their guided reading groups during
reading weeks and formulating ideas during writing weeks. Seventh and eighth
grade students have been learning how to read and make sense of poetry during
reading weeks and organizing their papers during writing weeks.
As I
reflect over the past year, I am amazed at the progress these students have
made! It has truly been a privilege to work with such a wonderful group of
young adults!
If you
have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or e-mail me.
