Love Your Local Dairy Workshop: Butter April 18, 2010 (Sunday) 9:30a.m. - 2:30p.m. Garde Manger Classroom at Kapiolani Community College
Slow Food Kapiolani Community College (KCC) invites Slow Food O'ahu members to join them this Sunday to learn to churn fresh butter using local cream.
KCC will be churning butter with Monique and Sabrina of Oahu's Naked Cow Dairy. They will be bringing their commercial butter churner and we will help them to churn, flavor and package a batch of their butter then we will churn flavor and package a batch just for us. This means we get to get REALLY creative with flavoring!! If you have ideas for flavors you would like to try, let us know in your reply so we can get the ingredients. They will be making some other products with the buttermilk for everyone to taste. Everyone in attendance will get to take home some butter.
This workshop is free of charge for Slow Food Kapiolani Community
College (KCC) members and $15 for other Slow Food members. Reply
to Gida at [email protected] to RSVP by Friday April 16. KCC needs to get a head count by Friday so be sure to reply if you are interested in attending.
Culinary students please bring your scale and rubber spatulas and wear your chef whites and hat and apron. If you are not culinary please wear closed toed non-slip shoes, pants and a shirt with sleeves. KCC will provide extra aprons and hats if needed.
