TCEQ Will Be Asked To Approve Drought Relief Measures
Acknowledging the already extreme drought conditions and anticipating that conditions might exceed the drought of record next year, the LCRA board voted on Wednesday to seek TCEQ's permission to deviate from the Water Management Plan during 2012. If approved, the measure could significantly reduce or even cut off water to downstream irrigators if conditions do not improve.
Janet Caylor and other members of CTWC were there for the committee and board meetings and will tell us what happened "backstage". Ms. Caylor, a former board member of PLTA, was quoted by Fox 7 News, "It's time for change in water policy in Central Texas. This is a first step."
