Security Tips & Trends

In a continuation of a recent brainstorming session, Dave and Bob came up with more helpful solutions:

May Mistake #1:

Lack of key control, especially at buildings with several locks

AA Lock & Key's Recommendation:  A written record, known as a key chart, should be instituted and maintained by a designated individual within the company.  This is something we can assist you in setting up.  There are software options that can also be utilized.  Call us for more information.

A "Green" AA Lock & Key

As we said in a recent E-Newsletter, we are making every attempt to lessen our carbon footprint.  Following are more ways we try:
  • We use key blanks that are already made from recycled metal.  See the Kaba Ilco video to see where they come from...a surprising recycled material.
  • Dave installed automatic light switches in the stock area and we use energy efficient lighting in the office.
  • We use environmentally friendly cleaning products in the office.
  • We attempt at the beginning of the day to schedule jobs in the field by location. But, emergency repair calls received on a daily basis can throw this out the window!
  • In the office, we have transitioned to "paperless" with our invoicing system, using emailing and faxing.
  • Our roadside signage is not lit at night, which also reduces energy consumption.
  • This E-Newsletter is electronically  produced.  In the past, we've sent out a standard 8 1/2 x 14 brochure outlining what we do.  As you know, we are able to provide readers with up-to-the-minute information via Key Communications.

Customer Testimonial

As Director of Maintenance at a local convalescent center for the past eight years, I have relied on your business to help me with the timely repair of many broken and damaged locksets. Over the eight years I have been in this position your business has been an invaluable service to our community.

Replacing or repairing a broken or damaged lockset is a critical aspect of the safety of patient care. Many of our aged residents are active and quite often try to enter a storage area, closet or stairwell out of curiosity or confusion; for this reason it is imperative that these areas are speedily secured for their protection.

Having a reliable, local locksmith is a necessity and AA Lock & Key has always provided speedy and professional service. I would like to personally thank you for providing this great service, in a timely and professional manner. Your customer service is always friendly and provides haggle free after sales service. I look forward to a continuing relationship with such a positive business partner in the community.

Congratulations on your 25th Anniversary and may you long continue with your success!!

Best regards,

John Sedgeman

History of AA Lock & Key

Here's another gem from a former employee!

A customer came into our office and asked one of the lock techs if he could stamp numbers on a key~he responded, "Yes, we can do it, but it is a pain in the ass!"

He didn't last long here!
