                    3 BIGGEST SECURITY MISTAKES

After a recent brainstorming session, Dave and Bob came up with this list and we have included solutions for you!

Mistake #1:

Waiting until the last minute, both time of day and until the lock has failed, to have service or repairs.  Many calls have come in with a safe locked shut that had been troublesome for the last few weeks!  This can be a very costly mistake!

AA Lock & Key's Recommendation:  We cannot stress enough~DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LOCK HAS FAILED OR YOUR SAFE IS LOCKED SHUT TO CALL AA LOCK & KEY!   It is so much easier, and, therefore, less expensive, to service or repair your lock earlier than later.  Don't wait until 3 in the afternoon to call us!  Call at the first signs of lock failure.  Sometimes just a simple adjustment is needed.  Sometimes we may recommend a replacement or a lock of better quality for your application.  TRUST US!  25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IS YOUR FRIEND!

Mistake #2:

Assuming all locks are created equal~NOT AT ALL!

AA Lock & Key's Recommendation:  You can certainly pick up a lock at a "big box store" that will seem to suit your needs, but many are made from inferior materials that will not withstand the usage required for its function.  We know locks...period!  It is our business and we have been doing it for 25 years!

Mistake #3:

Putting convenience above security~giving out too many or wrong keys, ie. masterkeys and having a "desk drawer" key filing system

AA Lock & Key's Recommendation:  So many times, too many keys are given out to employees.  Sometimes the wrong key is distributed without knowledge.  A masterkey in the wrong hands can have dire consequences and mistakenly allow the wrong people to have access to protected data. We can help you be sure that your keying records are kept in an orderly fashion.  There are many types of key boxes and key filing sytems, including software programs, to help you keep track of your system.  Call us to help you set this up for your application.

                               HARDWARE UPDATE

We recently installed the following hardware in a residence that plans to become a house of worship in the future.  The doors had no hardware preparations.  After several meetings with the owners, we designed and installed a system which will meet their future plans and present needs.  Here are photos showing our work.

YANKEE SECURITY CONVENTION
                          2011

     LETTER OF COMMENDATION!

Dave, in his role as Education Coordinator for the Yankee Security Convention, Inc., (the locksmithing industry's professional association), received the following letter of appreciation from some of the instructors at the 2010 Show:

Hi David,

On behalf of Ed Woods, Bill Lynk, and myself, I wanted to take a minute to thank you and the entire Yankee Security crew for a great convention.

As instructors, we experience a wide range of hospitality and efficiency from many organizations, and you folks are 2nd to none.  Everything we could ask for was taken care of in a prompt and courteous way.  The staff was friendly, organized, and eager to help - qualities we sometimes don't see at training venues.

Having been a member of several hosting organizations over the years, I know how much hard work it takes to put a convention together.  Your skills show loud and clear.

I know I speak for all the instructors when I say this year's convention was a pleasure and we'd be more

than happy to teach for Yankee anytime.
