Continuing Education
Do you have highly sensitive documents or materials that require the utmost protection? Dave recently attended a training course on the electromechanical Sargent & Greenleaf 2740 Series A Safe Lock. This lock was engineered and designed to meet Federal Specification FF-L-2740A and is approved for use in protecting our nation's classified materials.
Tested against expert manipulation for 20 man-hours, this lock can generally be easily retrofitted on your existing safes, security files and vault doors. It operates on batteries to eliminate the need to turn the dial numersous times to generate operating power.
In order to be listed in the technician database, Dave had to complete this course and pass the S & G manufacturer designed exam. For further information about this lock call Dave or email us. Search here for Dave~"Sargent & Greenleaf Certified Technician Search" .

Security Tips and Trends
After a very rainy period, followed by dropping temperatures, we sent out the following alert:
As your Security Solution Specialists, the crew at AA Lock & Key wants to remind you that 2 days of wind driven rain may have filled your lock mechanisms with water that will probably freeze with temperatures that are forecast to drop throughout the day and night. Be sure to spray some moisture displacing lubricant in the lock cylinders to avoid frozen locks tomorrow morning. We recommend GT-85, but if you do not have this product, any good quality (be sure it is moisture displacing) lubricant should help. We are open today until 5 pm and do have the GT-85 available. Call us at 860-464-8664 with any questions. Dave
This is one of the responses we received:
"Thanks for the alert. I purchased two cans of GT85 last year, one for Coreplus and one for myself. Does wonders, thanks again,"

History of AA Lock & Key...Chapter 10
Bob Watrous has been with us as a full time lock technician since November 2002. We had two full time lock technicians in the summer of 2002 and one of them requested to go part time. As we really needed two full time techs, we started a search. Bob came highly recommended by one of our techs. Bob had worked in various positions at a local "big box" store. He had a lot of customer based experience, as well as a definite feel for hardware. With Bob's natural mechanical ability and pleasant demeanor, it was without question that we offered him the position.
Bob had had no training in the field of locksmithing, but he picked up very easily all the tricks of the trade and became very proficient as a Lock Tech. With the economic situation as it was in 2005, we had to down size our staff and Bob was a sure bet to stay on with us at AA Lock & Key. Bob feels it took about 2 years to feel comfortable in the technical aspects of his position here. Bob learned from on-the-job training, as well as several locksmithing classes. To this day, with any type of new lock, there is always a learning curve for both Bob and Dave. We are very fortunate to have Bob on board and look forward to many more years sending him out to meet our clients' needs.
