yankeeYANKEE SECURITY CONVENTION
2010

Bob attended an all day class on Electronic Safe Lock Servicing.  "The class was very informative...wish I had more time at the class.  I liked the fact that the whole day was hands on.  We were able to learn about the locking mechanisms and not be under a time crunch, which is so familiar when we are actually on a job for a customer."   The course entailed programming, combination changing, installation, troubleshooting and opening methods for today's most common electronic safe locks, including Lagard, Sargent and Greenleaf 6120 series and Kaba-Mas Auditcon 252.  Bob also learned about the industry's newest electronic locks such as the S & G Biometric keypad, LpLocks Rotobolt, SecuRam BSL Biometric and SecuRam EC-601.

A Green AA Lock & Key
All of us need to be more aware of the environment and being "green".   AA Lock & Key contributes to this most important endeavor in the following ways:

We recycle lock parts in two ways:  used parts in good condition are inventoried and reused and we recycle old locks, keys, etc to a metal recycling facility.  This does not mean we are going to provide our clients with used locks, but you would be surprised how many times Dave and Bob have gone out to the stockroom to retrieve an old part from years ago to repair an obsolete lock!
We have donated locks to Restore in Salem CT
www.habitatsect.org, to be used to create funding for Habitat for Humanity.
We recycle waste in proper receptacles.
Dave installed a tankless, on demand water heater in our restroom, which reduces energy consumption.
As of early 2009, we stopped sending monthly statements, which reduces printing and mailing, as well as saving time and money.

See our upcoming January 2011 E-Newsletter for more ways that we have "gone green".

diyHoliday DIY Tip

After Christmas and other gift-giving holidays, don't pile up empty gift boxes from your new computer, DVD player, or stereo receiver on the street for the garbage man. Burglars appreciate knowing that you have expensive gifts inside for them to steal. Break them down or cut them up to conceal the items better. After a lucrative burglary, the chances of being burglarized again are increased to steal the new replacement products.

history_decHistory of AA Lock & Key...Chapter 9

Over the 24 years we have been in business, we have had a number of individuals employed as lock technicians.  We have had some stay for a few years and a couple for 1 day!  One guy came to work for his first day in fancy dress shoes on a freezing cold day...he decided he wasn't cut out for the job.  We agreed!  On his suggestion, we traded a couple of locks for his time and called it a day!

Deb and Kathy could probably write a book on funny anecdotes over the years!  We will try to remember more "AA Lock & Key Stories" to tell you about in future editions.

See next month to learn about Bob.
