Our Contribution to the Industry

DAVE VESSELS, CEO,

RE-ELECTED TO
BOARD OF DIRECTORS

At the annual meeting of the Yankee Security Convention, Inc., held December 5, 2009 in Strubridge, Massachusetts, Dave was re-elected to the the Board for a 2 year term.

Dave serves as Education Coordinator for the Yankee Security Convention, Inc., which is a not-for-profit trade organization dedicated to the further learning and industry awareness of locksmith professionals in the Northeast Region of the country.  Dave works throughout the year finding classes of interest in the field of locksmithing and obtaining professionals in the field to instruct them.

Yankee was held this year October 21-25, in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. The classes offered at the Convention were well attended with class sizes much larger than anticipated.
The attendance at the show exceeded that of last year and shows much promise for a successful 2010.

See the Yankee website for more information.
Security Tips and Trends

 COLD WEATHER TIPS...

Save yourself some hassles and "winterize" any lock cylinders that are exposed to the weather at your home or business.  Take a few minutes and lubricate your locks with a moisture displacing spray lubricant containing silicone or Teflon.  If possible, avoid petroleum based products like  WD40, as they tend to build up and attract dust and dirt.  While there are plenty of good quality lubricants on the market, we, at AA Lock & Key, recommend GT85 which we just happen to sell at our office.  Stop in and pick up a can!

Although we no longer offer automotive lock services, we can suggest an option if your vehicle door lock is frozen after a driving rain or sleet.  Heat the key with a hair dryer, torch or similar heating device. Hold the key with pliers and apply heat. The key should insert easily after a few tries.

WHY SHOULD WE, (NOT THE BIG BOX STORES) CUT YOUR KEYS?

At AA Lock & Key, we have a computerized data base that can cross reference manufacturers blanks to see if we have the key you need from our large selection of key blanks.  As professional lock technicians, we can analyze your key by this method.  We also use our years of experience in this field, as well as our education, to cut you the right key!
